Oreburgh City Gym is relatively straightforward, as your first gym. There are no puzzles to figure out to reach the leader - only two optional trainers that stand in your way.
Youngster Darius¶
As with everyone in this gym, Youngster Darius uses Rock-types.
If you picked Piplup or Turtwig as your starter, you shouldn’t have much of an issue. Rock-types are weak to Water and Grass-types, and your starter should have learned a type-appropriate move by this point, which will make them easy to take down.
If you have Chimchar, it might be a little harder as there aren’t any good counter Pokémon to be found this early in the game. Grind a little so that your Chimchar learns Power-Up Punch before the fights and you’ll have a bit of an easier time. However, you’ll still have to avoid those Rock-type moves.
Youngster Jonathon¶
Pokémon | Level |
---|---|
Geodude | 10 |
Youngster Jonathon just has one Geodude, but he’s at a higher level. If you have Piplup or Turtwig, an equal-level Pokémon should be good enough.
If you have Chimchar, even though they learn Power-Up punch at level 12, it might be wise to grind and get them up to a much higher level before taking on these trainers and, afterwards, Roark.
