Every now and then, you can find Pokémon with a glowing yellow aura on the overworld. These Pokémon are rare, although you mustn’t mistake them for the far more rarer Shiny Pokémon. Known as “Brilliant Pokémon”, if you defeat and catch one of these, you’ll earn Watts that you can spend in the Wild Area.
In addition, if you catch a Brilliant Pokémon, you’ll discover that it knows one Egg Move, which is normally a move only acquired via breeding. Also, if you look further, this Pokémon will have at least two stats with perfect IVs (in basic terms, these two stats have the maximum potential).
There are two ways to improve your chances of finding Brilliant Pokémon.
Firstly, if you continue to defeat a specific species of Pokémon, the chances of finding Brilliant Pokémon of that species will be permanently increased. You can check this value by going to the species’s Pokédex page.
Number defeated | Rate multiplier |
---|---|
0 | 0x |
1~19 | 1x |
20~49 | 1.3x |
50~99 | 1.6x |
100+ | 2x |
Secondly, you can temporarily increase the chance by chain fishing. To do so, you must keep hooking a Pokémon–it doesn’t matter what species–and defeating it. The chain will stop if you fail to hook a Pokémon, catch the Pokémon, flee from the battle or exit the current area.
Number defeated | Rate multiplier |
---|---|
0~2 | 1x |
3~6 | 1.3x |
7~14 | 3.3x |
15~24 | 6.6x |
25+ | 16.6x |
