Pokémon: Sword & Shield

List of Adventure Pokémon

By
Ben Chard
&
Vincent Lau

This is a list of the Pokémon you can rent (at the beginning of the adventure or from the scientists partway through an adventure). These are the same Pokémon you’ll fight and catch in the adventure as well. Which makes sense since you can swap your rental with the caught Pokémon.

For Pokémon listed as “not fully evolved”, if you run into a backpacker along a path, you can boost their defensive stats by choosing the Eviolite (if it’s available). We’ve also highlighted some Pokémon with useful moves/Abilities or who excel at supporting allies (by restoring HP etc.)

Kanto Region (#001 to #151)

Johto Region (#152 to #251)

Hoenn Region (#252 to #386)

Sinnoh Region (#387 to #493)

Unova Region (#494 to # 649)

Kalos Region (#650 to #721)

Alola Region + Other (#722 to #809)

Galar Region (#810 to #898)

Welcome to our comprehensive strategy guide for Pokémon: Sword and Shield, the latest entries in the Pokémon video game franchise. Our guide also incorporates all the DLC, including the Isle of Armor and brand new Crown Tundra DLC.

In Sword and Shield, you explore the Galar region, based on the United Kingdom, alongside rivals Hop, Bede and Marnie, with the aim to dethrone the Pokémon League Champion.

The games introduce several new features such as Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing, functions that increase size and change forms of certain Pokémon; the Wild Area, a large open world with free camera movement; and raids with co-op battling. They also reintroduce features previously seen in Sun and Moon and Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, such as regional variants and roaming Pokémon depicted in the overworld.
