This page offers a guide on all you need to know about Collectopaedia Cards in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
How to Unlock Collectopaedia Card Quests¶
Collectopaedia Cards are like fetch quests in which you’re asked to collect collectibles, often multiple collectibles at a time, for a specific person. You’ll unlock Collectopaedia Cards when you complete Main/Hero quests in different regions and colonies. It’s important to note that you must have talked to the NPC before the Collectopaedia Card will unlock for them. So, if you see them walking around with a star on their little speech bubble, then they have something new to say.
On the Collectopaedia card, which can be viewed in the Collectopaedia Card section of the Quests tab in the main menu, you’ll be given all the information you need to know about which collectibles they want and what they’ll reward you! For completing Collectopaedia Cards, you’ll also get an Affinity reward too, which boosts your friendship with the requester, and in turn, also boosts your overall affinity with their colony.
Unless you’re striving to up your affinity, Collectopaedia Cards should be treated as a secondary project - something to keep in mind whilst you’re out and about. Some collectibles are rarer than others and you can view their rarity on the Collectibles tab on the Items page in the main menu. If you’re looking for rarer items you may have to do a dedicated trip, but other than that you should, for the most part, be able to pick up items on the fly and complete Collectopaedia Cards over time. And if you’re diligent in your collectible collecting then sometimes you’ll be able to pick up and automatically complete Collectopaedia Cards!
Using Nopon Coins to Complete Collectopaedia Cards¶
If you’re struggling with collecting specific collectibles, you can bypass the grind and use Nopon Coins to fill in the Collectopaedia Card! The more items you have already collected, the cheaper it’ll be to fill up the card.
How to Complete a Collectopaedia Card¶
To complete a Collectopaedia Card quest, you’ll need to first collect all the required items. Then, you’ll need to open up the card in the quest tab and register it. Registering it will remove the requested collectibles from your inventory and you’ll receive your reward.
