Those Seeking Sanctuary is a Subquest in Shin Megami Tensei V. Most Subquests will reward you with a large amount of experience, some Macca, and then you’ll receive an item of sorts. Most of the time, it’ll be a Talisman which allows you to have access to the different Magatsuhi skills in the game.

Help the Lilim move into Tokyo by Eliminating the Principality on guard.
How to start Those Seeking Sanctuary¶
In order to start this Subquest, teleport to the Shinagawa Pier Leyline. Head west as soon as you can, and go in-between the containers. When you’ve gone past them, turn west again, and you’ll notice two vending machines resting up against a dilapidated building. Hug the building, and turn west, then south, and you’ll see several Lilim secluded in the remnants of the building.
Talk to the Lilim with the quest scroll, and she’ll tell you that she wants to go to Tokyo and live with the Humans, but the Angel told her it’s not allowed. She then tells you that she told the Angel that they wouldn’t kill any Humans, only take enough energy to get by, to which he responded with another resounding NO. So naturally, she wants you to rid the angel from the Netherworld, and take them to Tokyo. Furthermore, the angel in question is Principality, and he’s in the place with lots of shipping containers.
Where to find Principality¶
You can find Principality to the east of the Shinagawa Leyline. From the Leyline, head north, hugging the warehouses (don’t go in them) to your right. About halfway up, you’ll be able to head east in-between two sets of warehouses. Follow the path south until you can turn east again, and you’ll see a dilapidated road with some Berith on it.
Run past them to the east, and continue on until you see a bunch of containers to your right, with a couple of Lamias in front of them. Just before the Lamia, you will notice you can go in-between the containers, this is where you’ll find Principality. Talking to him will give you the option of accepting his quest “Holding the Line”, and taking out the Lilims. Once completed, it will end this quest, so choose wisely. As we are covering the “Those Seeking Sanctuary” quest, ignore this, and choose to fight him.
Lilim or Principality¶
Lilim will give you access to some decent Electric skills which is helpful against one of the main bosses in this area, but you can get them elsewhere. Pricipality has access to the Magatsuhi skill Sea of Stars which replenishes the parties MP which can come in clutch. For this reason we recommend Pricipality, although you can’t go wrong with either.
Recommended Party¶

Ame-no-Uzume | |
Cironnup | |
Shiki-Ouji |
This battle will be against two Principalities. They’re weak to Dark and Seal, and they nullify Light. The hardest part of this battle is their ability to heal each other with Diarama which is strong at this stage of the game. What you want to do is Seal one whilst focusing on the other. As they’re only strong to Light, any element, even physical, is decent against them. The only skills they have, other than Diarama, is Light-based attacks. So as long as you’re not weak to that, you should be able to heal throught that.
For your party, take Ame-no-Uzume as your healer because she has the resist light passive at level 25, and Tarukaja which’ll raise your attack for three turns. Cironnup should be taken as he is strong at this stage of the game with his Cautious Cheer skill at level 30. On top of that, he also resists light. Finally, if you are at least level 29, you can bring along Shiki-Ouji. He resists Light, can seal them with Makajama at level 30, and he can cast Mudo which is their weakness, making him ideal for this fight.
Start the fight by using Omagatoki Critical if you have it, and focus down one of the Principality’s with Sakanagi on the Nabohino, Blinding Strike with Cironnup, and Mudo with Shiki-Ouji. On your follow-up attacks, use Sakanagi again with the Nahobino, Light Block with Cironnup, and Makajama on the Principality you’re not attacking. Keep up the rotation, even if you’re not in Magatsuhi, and they’ll fall down relatively easy.
With the battle over, head back to Lilim, west of the Shinagawa Pier Leyline, and turn in the quest, and welcome Lilim to the party.
