You can’t be a Mercenary without a sword!

So you’ve got a Life and you’ve got a massive pile of Challenges and Requests to fulfill, it probably won’t be long before you leave the security of Castele and venture into the great unknown.

Before you even go anywhere, be sure you know how to change your Gear and use your Pouch !

Gear

Like other RPGs (yes, Fantasy Life is a RPG!) your Gear or equipment is often vital to your progression. To access it, tap the Menu icon on the bottom screen or press the Y button. Then navigate to “Gear”.

Here you can view and change your equipment, ranging from your trusty weapon, work tools, clothing and accessories.

At the start, it doesn’t matter too much what you’ve got equipped, but as you progress and gain new items, don’t forget to equip them from the Gear menu!

Pouch

Next up is your adventurer’s Pouch. Hopefully you’ve noticed the Pouch icon in the bottom-right corner of the bottom screen. Touch this to open your Pouch, which can hold up to 8 consumable items.

While you can use consumable items by opening the Menu and going to Items, it’s much more convenient–especially during a heated battle–to use your Pouch.

Simply tap an item assigned to your Pouch to use it instantly. Voila!

No fussy menu navigation to get to that much-needed potion!

What? You’ve got no items assigned? In that case, tap the “Assign” button at the bottom of the Pouch menu to assign a consumable item. You can assign potions, food and even bombs for quick use.

Items

Last but not least, you can also view the items you’ve collected by opening the Menu and navigating to “Items”. It might be a bit obvious, but better safe than sorry!

You may notice you can only carry so many items with you. If you need extra item space, you can claim the Bliss Bonuses that increase your Item Bag capacity.

Most of the time though, it might be wise to store your excess items in your house (inside your house, tap “My Room” on the bottom screen and navigate to “Storage” or simply inspect your wardrobe).
