Tips¶
Congratulations on your Master Rank, but for some the challenge has only just started…
The majority of your time will be spent in the Ancient Ruins , located north-east from Drysand Desert. This place is a mini-labryinth and crawling with tricky monsters, so make sure you’re properly prepared before going in.
In particular, there are three major paths to follow: west, north and east. You will want to head west for the most part, towards the Golden Dragon, although the King Cobra is found towards the east.
You will also briefly visit the Subterranean Lake, found south of the Drysand Desert, and West Levitania.
Of note, you must vanquish the Ferociousaurus before you can reach the Silver Dragon . This is another giant dinosaur in the same vein as Mt. Snowpeak’s Silverfang.
Speaking of dragons, you will be fighting a lot of dragons here. Well, just two, but they’re as strong as multiple dragons!
Both of these dragons–the Silver Dragon and Golden Dragon –fight exactly like the Napdragon, but they are surrounded by baby dragons that can interrupt your combat. Best you dispose of the babies first so you can fully concentrate.
When the dragon is alone, you can fight it using normal Napdragon techniques. So circle and hug the dragon, bringing up your shield right before it attacks. At this stage, you might not even need to shield if you’re used to its movements.
Beware that the Golden Dragon causes the Stun status with its tail swipe, even if you block. When stunned, for a short period of time you cannot use items and will become immobilised every now and then.
To counter this, bring Leilah, Yuelia or another ally who can cure status. Or keep to the left of the dragon (from its perspective) to avoid its tail swipe outright.
