Tips¶
Congratulations on becoming a Master, but it’s not time to retire yet. You’ve still got plenty of mantel space to fill after all…
Before setting off, you may wish to go solo until you’ve blasted 10 or monsters with your Arrow Storm . Only the finishing blow counts and it’s annoying if someone in your hunting party gets the kill before your attack has time to connect.
To find the Subterranean Lake, head for the south side of Drysand Desert, while the Ancient Ruins can be found by going north-east. Do be careful of the Desert Tyrant guarding the ruin entrance, although you can easily sneak past before it notices.
None of the monsters should prove tricky at this stage, so enjoy hunting down various bats and moths on your way to become a Hero. If you’re unsure what Bunny Killers are, they’re just wolves.
The boss monster though is another story. Thunderbird is Drysand Desert’s version of Bigbeak, usually found flying around the north-western highland, the highland south from the Al Maajik entrance or the area west from the Ancient Ruins entrance.
As usual with all these big birds, listen out for it shrieking, which signals its dive bomb attack or thunderbolt attack. Unlike Blizzard Bird’s ice shot, Thunderbird’s thunderbolt has a narrow range so is much easier to avoid.
To mix things up, Thunderbird has a new attack: it may pull back slightly, before slapping with its wings multiple times. Like its single wing slap, simply keep your distance to avoid it. It’s a bit harder if you’re fighting on the highlands, but do your best.
