Tips¶
The list of Challenges sure increased a lot, didn’t it? As an Apprentice, you’ll have to visit a few more places than before, so pack your best pair of adventuring boots.
The Elderwood is located north of the East Grassy Plains, while the West Grassy Plains is to the north-west.
For Mt. Snowpeak, you’ll want to go north-east from the East Grassy Plains, then east from the Crowned Champion’s house to get to the Waterfall Cave.
The toughest Challenge here is probably using Cross-Cut (press the A button four times) to defeat 10 monsters. For some, just using Cross-Cut is difficult–it’s all about the rhythm and timing.
First, begin by finding a quiet spot where you can practice without the enemy interrupting you. The East Grassy Plains is a good place for this.
You want to time your button presses with the swing animation of each sword strike, rather than mashing the A button mindlessly. So A, wait, A, wait, A, wait… A. Keep practicing until you get the swing of things (pun not intended).
After you’ve mastered the Cross-Cut or you’re at least somewhat familiar with it, you still need to figure out exactly how to defeat an enemy with your 4th hit, which is the actual Cross-Cut.
You can either find an enemy who will die in 4 or more hits or weaken an enemy and attack them from afar, with the hope your 4th hit will connect and finish them. Definitely be sure to dismiss any party members so you can concentrate!
