Tips¶
The path of a Magician suddenly gets darker… literally, as you’ll be heading to a lot of dark and murky places.
The Deepsea Cave and Subterranean Lake lie near the south of Tortuga Archiplego and the Drysand Desert. Meanwhile, Cacto Cove requires a ferry from the south bank of the Al Maajik Outskirts (after recruiting Magnificus during the main story).
To save yourself some time, defeat 5 Crimson Frogs while you’re in the Subterranean Lake to complete two Master Challenges. These frogs aren’t particularly strong and it’s fine to do Challenges out of order.
Before you head out, consider dropping your party members so you can complete the first three Challenges, which require you to use your supercharged spells (hold the X button until the second chime before releasing) without interruptions.
Then add them back in when you’re finished, especially before you challege the two new wraith bosses. Yup, more wraiths; tougher wraiths.
Fortunately, both the Sea Wraith and Forest Wraith are fought in wide arenas, so evading their attacks is less of a hassle. Begin with the Sea Wraith first, as it’s slightly weaker, before attempting the Forest Wraith.
Like against earlier wraiths, keep your distance from the wraiths to avoid their claws. Then when they swirl their claws to cast a spell, sidestep and retaliate with up to three hits or a supercharged hit. When they hover upwards, run and restore your HP or SP.
Strong allies are a boon in these battles, if only to act as decoys. By now, you’ve probably befriended Odin, so at least bring him along. Chances are your allies will spend more time on the floor than attacking, but as long as you’re fine…
