The next day, you’ll receive a fresh batch of Flutter’s Requests. Like before, complete all of these and you’ll be able to advance the story by talking to Flutter in your room.
Additionally, the West Grassy Plains is now open for business! You can reach here by continuing west from the Doom Stone impact crater, past the Paladin’s Watchtower.
The History of Castele¶
Flutter is strangely interested in the history of the land, so why not take her to the Royal Castele Library north-east from the fountain in Castele Square?
As it’s your first visit, you’ll receive a welcome tour of the library, plus a spare pair of Round Specs .
The library is a nice place to visit during your lunch break or whenever. If you check the books on the bookshelves, you can read about all the monsters and resources unique to each area of Castele.
A Visit to the Pet Shop!¶
Whenever life feels lonely, a visit to the pet shop is always heart-warming. Castele’s pet shop is located in the Castele Artisans’ District, towards the east side of town. More specifically, it’s east from the royal workshop, along the north end.
There, the Pet Vendor will tell you how wonderful pets are, but warns that only blissful people are deserving of them. So basically you need to claim the “ Life with a Pet “ Bliss Bonus before you can have a pet.
Once you have, you can choose from a dog or a cat and give it a name too!
Pets will stay in your house or you can invite them into your party and they will follow you during your adventures.
To invite a pet (or any NPC ally) simply move next to them and press the X button to display their detailed information. Then press the Y button to add them to your party.
You can invite up to two pets or allies to your party. If you want to remove somebody from your party, open the Menu and navigate to the “Status” section, then press the Y button after selecting your unwanted party member to give them the boot.
Although pets are very cute, they are fairly weak in battle so we don’t recommend keeping them in your party unless you have no better choices or don’t care! Just don’t say we didn’t warn you!
Attic with a View¶
This one’s easy: just head downstairs from your room and enter the door directly below that leads to “Homes by Pam”.
Inside, Pam will suggest some new homes for you, in case you don’t want to live in the (rather cramped) attic forever.
There are homes in every important area of Castele, so do take a look when you have time; Pam has already arranged so you can view the inside of each property. The price of these homes isn’t as pricey as you might think either.
In the Castele Artisans’ District, there’s a home along the south end. An ideal spot if you’re in a crafting Life, as all the material shops are within walking distance and the royal workshop too.
Meanwhile, in South Castele , there’s a home in the south-west corner, west from the garage. If you’re the type of person who gets around, this would be a great spot as it’s close to the East Grassy Plains, the horse stable and next door to the airship garage.
Finally there’s also a mansion in the Castele Shopping District , but you can’t buy this property until after completing the game.
Ride Like the Wind!¶
Curious Flutter wants to know what it’s like to borrow a horse. Head for the horse stables, located just a ways west from the South Castele crossroad.
Beth, one of Pam’s sisters, will fill you in on the details. Specifically, you can rent horses for a small fee, but only if you’ve claimed the relevant Bliss Bonus: “ Horse Riding “
If you have, simply speak to the staff lady on the left and you can pay 50 Dosh to borrow a horse.
The benefit of riding a horse is that you can move very fast without consuming any SP. Which is fantastic for getting around places quicker, especially earlier on.
Just note that if you dismount from the horse with the B button, the horse will automatically return to the stable after a few seconds. Additionally, horses can’t go inside the busy parts of town, in caves, up mountains… you get the picture.
Later, you can obtain your own personal mount, who will stay where they are after dismounting. Or if you have the DLC, special mounts such as deers, crabs, turtles… we’re not making this up!
Pierre and Butch¶
You will find these two in the empty lot east of Pam’s house during the day or in the middle of Castele Square during the night.
After yesterday’s excitement, it might be a good idea to check up on them. You’ll get a Big Egg for listening to their ramblings as well.
