Inversion of Genesis helps to wrap up some lingering questions left at the end of the Sumeru Archon Quest. Like the past few quests, this one is mainly present to move the story along and wrap up Scaramouche’s character journey. Below we go over how to complete all four parts of Inversion of Genesis, as well as what happens during the quest.
The Night-Bird Falls at the Curtain’s Call¶
At the start of this quest, you head back to Sumeru City to speak to Nahida about the Traveler’s siblings. On the way to the Sanctuary of Surasthana, you find two scholars discussing the Tatarasuna. The game will prompt you to jump down and go to the location where the scholars are talking. Once there, the two scholars will fill you in on their findings, and both will show you a long note about what they believe happened during the event.
After wrapping things up with the two, you spot Scaramouche walking around and head into the Sanctuary of Surasthana to speak to Nahida. Here you encounter Scaramouche once again and learn that the two are working together to gather information about your missing sibling.
Nahida will then send you into Irminsul with Scaramouche. Stick close to him and follow him up the bath until you get to the center. At this point, a large amount of dialogue will unfold that reveals the truth behind Scaramouche’s past, causing him to try and change the past. Nahida will pull you out of Irminsul and place you in an inn to say as she handles the situation.
A Dance of Destruction¶
To confirm that the past has been changed, you are going to visit three different locations in Inazuma to talk to NPCs associated with Scaramouche’s past.
- The blacksmith in Inazuma City to speak with Tougo.
- The Kamisato Estate, where you will speak with Furuta.
- The Tatarigami Furnace to speak to Xavier.
Keep in mind that if you have any unresolved Inazuma quests featuring these characters, you will first need to finish them to speak with all three NPCs.
The Kabukimono’s Finale¶
In the third part of the quest, everyone but the Traveler has been proven to have forgotten about Scaramouche. Determined to get to the bottom of what happened to the Harbinger, you head back to visit Nahida. First, you speak with the two scholars and once again read their reports. The story has been changed this time around, and any mentions of Scaramouche have been removed. Once you get to Nahida, you reveal the truth to her, and she finds a hidden memory that still holds the truth about his past.
You will then head to the theater, where you will encounter Scaramouche in his new form. You will follow him right outside Sumeru City, where you confront him. After this, he will go with you to see Nahida and have his memories eventually restored. Once he’s back to his old self, you will be able to play as Scaramouche and battle against** Shouki no Kami’s** first form. In this battle, you will only be able to use Scaramouche.
Don’t worry about your health. If you hit zero, the game will automatically heal you until you defeat the boss.
As Though Morning Dew¶
After defeating Shouki no Kami, you return to talk to Nahida. During this segment, you will be told to make a new name for Scaramouche and be given a key item to change it at your leisure later on. This new name will show up in the story as well, so check out our naming page here to get some good ideas for The Wanderer’s new name.
