Description¶
Having prepared the gifts, you travel together to the place where “Tsubaki” lives. “A crane brings 1 fresh flower in its beak to decorate my hair, while a white rabbit sews a hemline from 4 rays of moonlight. Dressed appropriately, I face eastward and call out Tsubaki’s name 7 times. In the blink of an eye, I am stood [sic] on the path that leads to her home.”
Steps¶
- Head over to the designated area recorded in the notebook
- Search for places based on the hints
- Investigate the shrubbery on the wall
- Open the mysterious box
- Go outside the cave to check the notebook
Head over to the designated area recorded in the notebook¶
Now that you have the gifts prepared, head over to the location, which is recorded in the notebook you found. The location you’re looking for can be found on the northwestern edge of Inazuma City, on the little piece of beach depicted on the map. Jump down from the western cliff, and you’ll find the objective under a rocky outcrop, head over to it for a scene. Paimon and Ayaka will talk amongst themselves, asking why it’s so chilly, and if transcendent beings lived here, and start having second thoughts. After some thinking, Paimon suggest checking the place out considering that you are here, Ayaka recites what was written down in the notebook, “A crane brings 1 fresh flower in its beak to decorate my hair, while a white rabbit sews a hemline from 4 rays of moonlight. Dressed appropriately, I face eastward and call out Tsubaki’s name 7 times. In the blink of an eye, I am standing on the path that leads to her house.”
Search for places based on the hints¶
When the scene ends, keep heading east until Paimon mentions, “There are some bushes on the rocks in here. Could that be anything?” This will update your objective.
Investigate the shrubbery on the wall¶
Climb up the rocky ledges in the northeast, and you’ll find a Conspicuous Stone Wall. Interact with it, and you’ll have a few options to choose from: Leave without doing anything, Knock once, Knock twice. You can find out what to do here by looking at the record you found, so…“A crane brings 1 fresh flower in its beak…” means knock once, then “while a white rabbit sews a hemline from 4 rays of moonlight” means knock four times, and finally, “and call out Tsubaki’s name 7 times” means to knock seven times.
This will make the stone wall disappear, but it appears that there is nothing here, Ayaka will tell you to keep on looking. Head southeast, and climb the rocky ledges, and you’ll find another Conspicuous Stone Wall, knock once, then four times, and finally, seven times to make the wall disappear again, and this time you’ll find a mysterious black box laying on a rock inside.
Open the mysterious box¶
Head over to the box, and interact with it for a scene, it looks like the box was containing another notebook. Ayaka will suggest heading outside the cave to read it.
Go outside the cave to check the notebook¶
Head north, to the pool of water, and head to the objective marker for another scene. You’ll tell Paimon to follow you, giving Ayaka time to read the notebook alone. After a short while, Ayaka will finish reading it, and apologize for taking your time. So it seems that Tsubaki wasn’t a Fox Envoy (daww), but it was her mother all along! Apparently, Tsubaki was Ayaka’s mother’s alter-ego. It was her way to act as an ordinary citizen, and escape from reality from her normal life. This identity allowed her to wear Kimonos, eat international dishes, and not be judged for it, at least in her mind. Ayaka will then tell you that she has a different side to herself too, and that she always wanted to do those things, but being in her position doesn’t allow it. Paimon will ask if Ayaka intends on creating an alter-ego, but Ayaka tells her that she’ll create a new goal instead, “To live each day without regrets.” After some deep breaths, she’ll ask you if you want to go to the festival together. After the scene ends, so will the quest.
