Talk to Kaeya¶
As soon as you enter, you’ll see Kaeya, waiting for you, by the doorway, at the top of the stairs, talk to him for a short scene, and when the scene ends, you’ll be in control of him.
Kaeya is a Cryo based character, who uses a sword. His Elemental Skill: Frostgnaw will hit enemies in front of him with Cryo damage, whilst his Elemental Burst: Glacial Waltz, will create three icicles around him that deal Cryo damage to any enemy they come in contact with.
Explore the temple’s depth¶
Continue onwards, past the Door of Resurrection, which’ll activate as you walk past it, and down the stairs into the next room. As you get halfway down, you’ll have a tutorial pop up, telling you how Cryo interacts with water, and enemies that have become Wet. You’ll now have a battle with three Hilichurl Fighters, as they are wet, use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to freeze them momentarily, switch to Amber to deal extra damage to the enemies from the Melt elemental condition, this’ll make your next Pyro attack deal more damage, and it occurs when Pyro meets Cryo or vice versa. With them defeated, take a look around the room, and you’ll see some crates that can be broken, this’ll normally have food ingredients inside them. On the opposite side of the room to where you fought the Hilichurls, you’ll see a metal fence in the corner, go over to it, and you’ll notice a hole in it, with a Common Chest waiting for you to open.
Once you’re done exploring the room, head southwest, through the now open door, you’ll see another Door of Resurrection at the end of the corridor, continue past it, and you’ll see some a flamethrower trap, as you get closer to it, you’ll get another tutorial, explaining that if you attack the core of it with a Cryo skill, you’ll stop it, allowing you to pass. Continue onwards, and open the Common Chest conveniently waiting in the middle of the room, as soon as you open it, two Hydro Slimes will appear, these are extremely weak to Cryo as they’re wet by nature, use the same combos you used on the Hilichurls, and they’ll go down in no time. Once they’re defeated, attack the next flamethrower trap with Kaeya again to stop it, then continue onwards, the camera will pan to your left, and show you a wind current. Go over to it, and jump on it, then press jump a second time to glide, this will catch the wind lifting you up to the next floor, as you reach the top, another Door of Resurrection will be passed, and you’ll see a device, sitting next to the closed door, interact with it to open the door.
As you enter the room, you’ll get another tutorial, this time, explaining to you about Hydro Ambers. If you attack them, it’ll cause the room to have rain in it, making the enemies wet. The Hydro Amber can be found in front of the chest at the back of the room. Attack it with Amber from a distance, and then switch over to Kaeya, and attack the Large Pyro Slime with his Elemental Skill, as you start to attack it, several normal Pyro Slimes appear, keep using Kaeya’s Elemental Skill and Burst to take them down whilst making sure the room is raining from the Hydro Amber. Once they’ve been defeated, open the Precious Chest, and leave the room via the east exit. As you reach the top of the stairs and a bit further down the corridor, you’ll get another tutorial, this time, about creating icy surfaces on top of water to avoid the spikes. Use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to freeze the water surface to safely cross the spikes, as you get past the first set, they’ll be an Exquisite Chest for you to open, on your right, open it and continue east. This next set of spikes is too big to get across with just your Elemental Skill. What you need to do, is time it, when the moving platform is in front of you, so you can make an ice bridge to it.
Once across, run past the Door of Resurrection, up the stairs, and turn to your south, and go through the door. Enter the room, and you’ll notice an object in the middle of it, Kaeya thinks it could be what’s powering Stormterror, attack it, and you’ll get a cut scene. Kaeya will show his admiration of your battle prowess, and tells you to meet him at his quarters when you have time. After the scene ends, the quest will finish, and you’ll be rewarded with Kaeya as a permanent party member.
