Go to Konda Village and find out what happened¶
The quest starts off with you needing to go to Konda Village. To get there, take the teleport waypoint which will put you right next to the quest objective then head southeast towards the group of people for a scene. It seems Tejima is leaving the village suddenly, and the villagers are begging him to stay.
Ask the crowd for news (0/2)¶
Talk to both Kenjirou and Mahiru, and you’ll find out that Tejima has protected the village since he came there thirty years ago. Protecting them from Treasure Hoarders, monsters, and resolving quarrels. It appears that Tejima is looked upon fondly in this community. Which makes it harder for them to understand that he wants to leave the village so suddenly, and whether it was something they did.
Talk to Tejima and find out what happened¶
Once you’ve spoken to the villagers, talk to Tejima who is right behind them to find out what has changed. You ask him why he wants to leave, and he responds with, “what reason do I have to stay?”. You’ll tell him how he’s lived here a long time and everyone depends on him.
Although it’s true, he says, that’s not why he chose to stay here all this time, but he can’t remember what brought him here in the first place thirty years ago, and what made him not want to leave. Apparently, since his Vision has been taken away, he can’t remember anymore, and that he feels empty inside. You convince him that maybe you can help him rediscover his reason for being here.
Find the clues to Tejima’s memory¶
Once the scene ends, head east past Tejima, and examine his diary for another scene. You’ll read some of his day-to-day activities in the village, but more importantly, you’ll read about how his Omamori is fading, and how he frequented the nearby shrine. Paimon will have some thoughts on whom this belonged to before she suggests heading to the shrine.
Go investigate the shrine nearby¶
The shrine can be found to the north a little. Head there and examine the marks for another scene. The first thing you notice is the Omamori lying in front of the shrine. Paimon suggests that if Tejima had this on his person all this time, it should leave elemental energy, and you can track down where he’s been with your Elemental Sight.
Use Elemental Sight to find clues in the diary¶
Use your Elemental Sight, and follow the blue energy southeast, behind the house. The clue you’re looking for can be found next to a tree with three small rocks next to it. You’ll know you’ve found it when you get a ‘check’ prompt. Interact with it for a scene, and Paimon will say that the soil looks disturbed, and suggests you dig it up. After you’ve finished digging, you’ll find a small box containing a letter. It must have meant a lot to Tejima, if he felt the need to bury it.
The letter reads, “If we become separated during the war, go wait for me in Konda Village. There’ll be a safe home for us there.”. So it seems the reason Tejima came to the village thirty years ago was to wait for someone, but it seems they never showed up. Paimon suggests showing the letter to Tejima, and the scene will end.
Talk to Tejima¶
Head back to Tejima, and he’ll tell you that it’s his handwriting, but he has no memory of writing that, but he was clearly waiting for someone, most likely his lover? Furthermore, he’ll tell you that since his Vision was taken away, he felt “hollowed out”, and everything he felt for her has been taken away. Although it sounds tragic, he can’t remember her, and doesn’t feel particularly sad about the ordeal. You’ll ask him if he still plans on leaving, and he’ll tell you that he might as well stay, as he’s been here thirty years now, and if she does turn up one day, she’ll notice him. Tejima will thank you for helping him reconnect with his reason for staying here, and Paimon will feel sad for him. Paimon will come to the conclusion that if you lose your Vision, you’ll lose all your hopes and dreams too. After the scene ends, so will the quest.
