Find the next person who lost their Vision¶
For this quest, you’ll need to find the next person who lost their Vision. They can be found in the suburbs of Inazuma City, southwest of the blacksmith. Head over there for a scene. As you’re walking towards the dojo, Paimon will tell you that the swordmaster is the present-day master of the Meikyou Shisui Art. When you get there, you’ll see two of the sensei’s students, Junya and Nanako talking about the sensei’s condition, and an exorcism. After being mistaken for trespassers, you’ll tell them that you’re disciples, and will ask what’s wrong.
You’ll find out the sensei’s name is Domon, and you’ll hear about some of his feats as well as his ambition to become the greatest swordmaster in the world. But recently, since his Vision was taken away, he hasn’t been the same. He talks to himself, and refuses to let them train. After some discussing amongst themselves, they came to the conclusion that he is possessed by an evil spirit, so they’ve enlisted the shrine maidens help from the Grand Narukami Shrine. They’ll tell you that the exorcism will take place in the evening, and that you’re welcome to attend.
Wait until night for the exorcism (18:00 - 24:00)¶
Wait until night, and talk to Junya again for another scene. Junya will tell you that you’re lucky you didn’t arrive sooner as the sensei was having one of his fits of madness, whispering out names of swordmasters he defeated in the past. One of them specifically being someone named Anzai, who used to be his senior, but the sensei defeated him in a duel. He’ll tell you to wait, whilst he goes and fetches some water. As Junya is leaving, you spot someone skulking near the house, he notices you, and runs.
Follow the suspicious person’s traces (0/3)¶
When the scene ends, you’ll need to find three traces from the suspicious person. The first one can be found at the bottom of the ramp, east of you. You can find the second trace a bit further up the ramp to the south, next to a rack with some crates. Finally, the last trace can be found at the top of the ramp. When you get there, you’ll find the suspicious person.
Head over to him for a scene. He’ll ask how you caught up to him with such speed, and Paimon will interrupt him, and ask why he was sneaking around the dojo. You’ll find out that he used to train side-by-side with the sensei back in the day, and that he was his senior. Paimon remembers Junya mentioning that his senior was called Anzai, and puts two and two together.
When you ask him why he ran, he’ll explain that he doesn’t want to see the sensei or people associated with him ever again due to the sensei humiliating him in a duel when they first began training. Anzai believes that he trained the longest, and was the better student. Allegedly, the sensei also dueled the former sensei, which took the last remaining bit of energy from him. After that, he wanted nothing to do with him although he did respect him deep down. Back to the reason of sneaking around, he heard that the sensei had lost his mind, and he wanted to see if the rumours were true, to his astonishment, he heard the sensei say his name.
Return to the exorcism site¶
Head back down the ramp, and to the dojo for a scene. You’ll hear Nanako saying “he isn’t possessed” to Inagi Hotomi, the shrine maiden. According to the maiden, she can’t find any spirit residing in the sensei, but maybe her powers aren’t strong enough. She suggests heading to the Grand Narukami Shrine and speaking to Lady Yae as she has taken an interest in the case.
Go to Grand Narukami Shrine to see the head shrine maiden¶
The Grand Narukami Shrine can be found in the northern part of Narukami Island, teleport there if you have the waypoint unlocked, otherwise make your way there by following the path northeast from Konda Village. When you get to the gates, unlock the waypoint if you haven’t already, and head behind the building for a scene. This’ll be your first introduction to Yae Miko, a future playable character, and she has a striking presence according to Paimon.
Nanako will ask Lady Yae if the sensei’s possessed, and Lady Yae will debunk it straight away, telling her that it’s a change in his person, suffering a spiritual collapse, and that losing his Vision was most likely the reason for it. The sensei starts muttering to himself, apologizing to his father, his former sensei, and Anzai. Just as he mentions his name, Anzai comes out from behind the shrine, and tells the sensei “that’s enough”.
Anzai gives the sensei a real talking to, and tells him, although he’s had his ambitions stripped from him, he shouldn’t strip the disciples of theirs. The sensei is worried that what happened to him will happen to them, but Nanako and Junya tell the sensei that they want to be masters of the Meikyou Shisui Art just like their sensei. Anzai tells the sensei to pass his ambitions on to them like he once did to the sensei, and the sensei agrees. After all the business with the sensei is cleared up, Lady Yae will tell you that your meeting is premature, but you came to this island at precisely the right time, and that she has high hopes for you. Paimon will tell you that Lady Yae has taken a real interest in you, and you should probably report back to Miss Kamisato. Once the scene ends, so will the quest.
