Starfield

All Romance Options in Starfield and How They Work

By
Jessica Dillon

Romance is a fun part of RPGs and lets you get close to some of your favorite characters. Starfield offers this, using a small cast of its companions. You will need to figure out which characters are open to a relationship though, and how to impress them so that you can actually start dating. The guide below goes over which companions are looking for love and how to win their hearts.

Sarah is one of four romanceable partners in Starfield.

Every Character You Can Romance in Starfield

Despite there being 20 companions, you are only able to romance four of them. These companions are also major parts of the game’s story, and you will likely be spending a lot of time together if you are taking part in the game’s main quest. Here are all the Starfield characters that you can romance.

As you can see every single one of these companions is tied to Constellation. "Andreja" iconAndreja is the last romanceable partner to join your crew during the game’s fifth main mission. Outside of these four, you can’t romance anyone. Even the "Adoring Fan" iconAdoring Fan will turn you down if you ask about the prospect of kindling a romance with him.

How to Date and Marry Characters in Starfield

There is an affinity system in place much like there was in Fallout 4. By saying the right things and spending time with your partners you can grow closer to them. To do this, take them with you on missions, from time to time they will tell you that they’d like to speak to you. When this happens, you will be able to learn more about them and in some cases, flirty dialogue will be an option. Choose this if you want to move the relationship forward.

Keep in mind that your actions will also affect this system. Things like murdering innocent citizens can ruin your relationship with a potential love interest. On the other hand, if you support NPCs during the quest by taking the kind path, you can gain points. In addition, all four of these companions have a quest that you will need to complete after you grow their affection, once it’s done you should be able to enter into a romantic relationship with them. For more perks, you will have the option to commit to them or marry them. This can be done at any time, and if you feel like you don’t like your partner anymore, just speak with them about the relationship and you can end it. This will give you some unique dialogue, extra gifts, and if you sleep in a bed while they are following you or nearby, you will get a buff to experience gain.

Starfield is an action role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios set in a futuristic interpretation of space exploration and colonization. Earth has long been abandoned, but there are plenty of other planets in different star systems where humans have ventured and settled. You have the freedom to create your own character with a unique background, but the main story will take you through a series of adventures as you uncover more information about mysterious artifacts which create gravitational anomalies. Along the way, you can build and customize your own space ship, establish your own outpost, befriend and romance new companions, and more. As a Bethesda game, you can also expect to see a lot of creative mods which have the potential to change your experience of the base game, or take it in an entirely new direction.
