At first, the Outpost building system in Starfield can feel overwhelming, and some controls won’t make a lot of sense due to some key options being either hidden in plain sight, or there isn’t a tutorial for it. When building your first Outpost, you may want to delete it, and start again. So, can you remove Outposts in Starfield? Yes, you can, although it isn’t obvious. Read below to find out how.
Deleting and Renaming Outposts in Starfield¶
When building an Outpost, you’ll place a beacon down as that allows you to build in its vicinity. Sometimes, you’ll put it in the wrong location, or there may be something like a rock in the way which is ruining your building plans. It could be that the planet isn’t what you thought it would be, and you want to try somewhere else. For the former two, you can use Modify mode, but for the latter, you’ll need to delete it. You may ask why delete it when I can build somewhere else and ignore it? And you would be right, somewhat, but Starfield has restrictions on how many Outposts you can build which is a total of 16 (with the Planetary Habitation skill). So eventually you will want to delete the Outpost.
So, how do you delete it? Well, head to the front of the Beacon (you’re kicking yourself right now, aren’t you?) and HOLD in the Key ( on controller) to remove the Outpost. Also, You can rename the Outpost name by simply pressing the same key/button. That’s it, as simple as that, but it took us a while to figure it out too, and it was only due to playing No Man’s Sky that made us think about interacting with the beacon, to begin with.
