Once you are into the later stages of the game, the resources you use to craft high-level weapon mods and outpost items will increase. This means that you will likely find yourself collecting the rarest materials in the game, Veryl being one of them. You can search for days, but you won’t find Veryl easily as it only appears in one of the 1,000-plus planets and moons that Starfield has. The guide below goes over which planet you will find Veryl on and what its uses are once you have acquired it.
Veryl Farming Locations in Starfield¶
Veryl or Vr as you will see it listed when first scanning a planet is one of the rarest resources in the game, with a rarity of four. Most of the four-star resources only appear in a certain system, and on a certain planet making them a pain to find. In addition, while you can still buy them from a few select merchants, they are rarely sold and if they are it’s in small quantities. The only way to gather Veryl in large quantities is by finding a vein and setting up a gas extractor and a gas storage container to send it to. For more information on the different types of extractors and how to set them up, check out our full extractor guide here. Below are the locations that we have confirmed you can find Veryl.
Planet | Location |
---|---|
Procyon IV-A | Obtain the quest Recover the Veryl from the crates orbiting near Procyon IV-A the moon of Procyon IV. It’s usually found while completing Locate Primed For Life from the mission board. |
Verne I | This planet in the Verne System is the only known planet where you can harvest Veryl from. When you land on the planet use your scanner to verify which parts of the planet have Veryl patches. Along with Veryl, the planet is rich in Neon, Plutonium, and Uranium. |
Verne II | Will drop sparsely when killing alien fauna on the planet. This method does seem to be the quickest way to get Veryl. |
Titan | You can buy Veryl once a day from Jay Montreal at the shop in New Homestead. |
Various shops | There have been reports of Veryl showing up at Jemison Mercantile in New Atlantis, Sieghart’s Outfitters on Neon, the UC Exchange on Cydonia, and at Zuri’s Essentials on The Key. |
All in all, your best bet is to head to Verne II to harvest Veryl off of fauna as shops deal with RNG and Veryl is a rare resource that seems to only show up a small fraction of the time. The next best choice is going to Verne I. You either need an extremely powerful ship to grav jump to it quickly, or you will need to system jump until you reach the location. Once on Verne I, things still aren’t simple as it’s an Inferno planet that you can burn up on. If you are lucky, then you can find a patch spawning on Verne I. Be warned you will likely be stuck looking for hours before you find a Veryl patch depending on how lucky you are with the RNG system. Vern I is a level 70 planet far into the right side of the star map, past the settled systems.
If you’re looking to get Veryl a bit quicker, then you can go to Titan in the Sol System. Here you will find New Homestead and inside a shop run by Jay Montreal, he will be selling three Veryl. Be warned though, we tried waiting for three days and the Veryl didn’t restock after our initial purchase. There’s also a side mission called Recover the Veryl that you can do. It involves finding cargo crates that are orbiting a moon called Procyon IV-A.
In order to set up an outpost on this planet, you will first need to unlock Planetary Habitation rank one. Once this is done, you can set your outpost on frozen and inferno planets, but you will still need to take precautions depending on your spacesuit. Some players have also reported that when they kill fauna or alien life in Verne I, you will occasionally be able to loot Veryl off of them. Luckily, there aren’t too many recipes that use this rare resource, but the ones that do are worth looking into.
What is Veryl Used For?¶
Veryl is used in two known recipes, one to create a basic crafting component and one to enhance your weapons. While this may not seem important at first, you will likely eventually find yourself needing Veryl if you are trying to set up an effective mining outpost.
Veryl Crafting Uses¶
To make a Veryl-Treated Manifold go to an industrial workbench. There you will see the item listed, along with Veryl you will need the following items to complete this high-cost recipe.
- x1 Austenitic Manifold
- x2 Lubricant
- x4 Veryl
- x2 Ytterbium
Once you have several Veryl-Treated Manifolds, you can use them to create liquid industrial extractors. In addition, you will need to make a single Veryl-Treated Manifold if you want to complete Outpost Defense level two at your research station. This unlocks security robots and the turret Mk III.
Veryl Weapon Mod Uses¶
Veryl is used to create the Gut Buster Rounds weapon mod. This is essentially a type of ammo that when fired turns into a grenade. It does a lot of damage but is quite costly to make only due to the fact that it calls for a piece of Veryl. The other ingredients are just the simple inorganic resources, Aluminum and Lead. In fact, to even unlock the recipe for Gut Buster Rounds, you must first complete the magazine and battery mods 3 research project.
