D's Journal

By
Vincent Lau

This unfathomable journal makes for a fascinating read when you have some spare time. Besides featuring written accounts from the future, it also contains a lot of useful information written by Ringabel. To check out its contents, open the map menu (press Right on the D-pad or touch the left-most tab on the bottom screen) and then select the book icon.

Enigmatic Writings

(1 of 2) Those interested in the game’s lore can spend many additional hours perusing the contents of D’s Journal.

These are the original contents of the journal when Ringabel first found it. The writings are a simple diary of events, but the unexplainable thing is that some of these events haven’t transpired yet… If you ever get stuck in your journey, you might find a hint inside here.

Notes

Here you’ll find Ringabel’s notes on a variety of topics; more notes (and pages) will be added as you progress through the story. These notes offer additional background information and also serve as reminders of people you’ve met or things you’ve learned.

Encyclopaedia

This section of the journal lists all the items, monsters, combat bonuses and certain abilities you’ve acquired or encountered. Some of these lists have completion percentages, so you can kill time by trying to fill in all the entries. By the way, there’s no in-game reward for completing the Encyclopaedia; it’s simply a case of “gotta catch ’em all”!

Help and Job Descriptions

Accidentally skipped one of the game’s helpful tutorial screens or just want to study one again? No worries, because you can find them all here! Similarly, if you want to check a Job Description again, they’re tucked away here too.

Secret!

Without spoiling too much, near the halfway point of the game, you’ll receive a special item that you can access from this journal. Its contents should be self-explanatory, but there is something we can tell you–an asterisk indicates something that hasn’t changed.

Event Viewer

The Enigmatic Writings gave you a sneak preview into the future; this lets you physically look into the past… Whoa, crazy! You can re-watch any dialogue, party chats or movies you’ve already seen, in any language (of those available) of your choice. Very handy when you want to relive a funny moment or missed some key information.
