You can’t have a good ol’ RPG without a massive world map and Bravely Default doesn’t disagree. Similar to most RPGs, the world map connects all the major locations in the game and you’ll use it as a central hub to get where you want.
Outside on the world map, you can enter certain landmarks (towns or dungeons) by going close to them and pressing the A or L button when the “Enter” prompt appears on the top screen. For your convenience, landmarks will be indicated by an orange dot on the bottom screen.
Beware that as you roam around the world map, there’s a very good chance you’ll suddenly encounter enemies–the infamous random battles. When this occurs, you will switch to battle mode and must defeat all the enemies to progress (or you could try to run away…).
Passage Of Time¶
As you spend time on the world map, day will eventually change to night and vice versa. When the time of day changes, different enemies will prowl the lands, while the many towns of the world will visually change depending on whether it’s day or night.
