Inns and Shops

By
Vincent Lau

Towns aren’t just a great place to lie-back; they’re also home to some very important establishments catering to RPG heroes far and wide.

Inns

(1 of 2) The inn is a bit costly, but it’s the most efficient way to restore HP and MP.

When it’s time to rest your weary bones, you’ll want to seek one of the inns located in town, indicated by a bed icon on the bottom screen. You’ll need to pay the innkeep a small sum, but your party will restore all HP and MP and recover from all status ailments (including K.O.).

Although it’s sometimes a pain to keep returning to the inn, there’s no denying that sleeping in the inn is the cheapest and most effective way of restoring your characters. Sleeping also automatically changes the time of day to day, in case you’re frightened by the night creatures.

Town Shops

(1 of 2) Wherever our heroes go, the monsters always seem to get tougher. Good thing the shops sell weapons and armours to match!

Each town has a weapon shop (sword and shield icon), item shop (potion icon) and magic shop (staff icon). When you reach a new town, be sure to check out all three shops so your weapons, items and spells are up to date. Typically, the monsters will get stronger with each area, so you don’t want to fall behind with your gear.

The official currency accepted by shops is pg, which you can get by beating enemies, opening chests or whatnot. You can also sell your items to shops to get pg, but be warned that you’ll only earn a quarter of the item’s worth–not very ideal if you spent a fortune on these items to begin with!

When you visit a shop, you will be shown a list of all the purchasable items and their price (in pg). If you need additional information, move your cursor over an item and press the X button to see its stats. If you hover over equipment, you can also see the equipment’s effects on your characters on the bottom screen.

The Adventurer’s Shop

It’s not just the townsfolk that peddle their wares, even the Adventurer (the hat with a S icon) carries goods for sale. You can buy items and equip from the Adventurer like you would any old shop, but the difference is that his stock depends on how far you’ve rebuilt Norende Village; you can add more items to his inventory by increasing the level of certain buildings in Norende Village.
