Speak to the sage in his residence in Yulyana Woods and he’ll give you the option to have a rematch. Step up to his challenge and he’ll interrupt the beginning of the bout to invite two unexpected guests. The sage then humbly requests his two guests aid him in the coming battle against Tiz’s company. Are you trying to kill us, Sage?
Boss: Barbarossa, Yulyana and Mephilia¶
Level | HP | Weak to |
---|---|---|
66 | 75,000 (Barbarossa), 70,000 (Yulyana), 65,000 (Mephilia) | Lightning (Barbarossa), Nothing (Other two) |
Who thought it was a good idea to bring together three of the heaviest hitters in one battle? Barbarossa deals heavy physical attacks such as Double Damage, while Mephilia will hit your party with the powerful non-elemental summon magic Susano-o. Yulyana meanwhile has a mixture of powerful physical (Amped Strike) and magic-based (Meteor) moves.
Putting up Rampart is still a good strategy, to block Barbarossa and Yulyana’s physical hits. However when the going gets tough, you may find Rampart falling apart fast, due to the increased frequency of attacks; same case with Utsusemi. While you can pair the two abilities together, it may be more advisable to have a Spiritmaster put up Stillness to call a ceasefire.
For a fighting chance, make sure your Spiritmaster can outrun the beastly trio–equip the applicable Speed-boosting abilities and equipment, especially the Hermes Shoes (you can grab two from DeRosa in this chapter). However, avoid avoid making your Spiritmaster faster than your other characters, because you won’t be able to do any damage if Stillness triggers before they attack.
Ideally, your other characters should be faster than the Spiritmaster, who in turn is faster than the enemy. That way, you can easily unload your powerful attacks, before finishing the turn with Stillness to cancel the enemy’s attacks. Just be aware that there’s a random factor involved and all characters can move before each other if the Speed margin between them is small.
While Stillness is cast, you can use this opportunity to drop the enemy’s stats, especially Yulyana’s invocation bonuses and the enemy trio’s Speed. Also feel free to rob a Death Axe from Barbarossa, Gold Hairpin from Yulyana and Lamia’s Tiara from Mephilia.
When you’re safely able to lay down the offensive, prioritize Yulyana–luckily, he’ll have much less HP than during his solo battle. With the multi-talented sage gone, you can focus on removing Mephilia from the picture, while falling back onto Rampart for blocking Barbarossa’s blows.
