Having left Egil in Karl’s care, a new sub-scenario will occur should you return to the Goodman’s residence. Inside, you’ll meet Daniel Goodman, who’s at home for once! More bizarrely, everyone seems to have expected your appearance, even though you arrived without warning. Turns out a letter was sent, inviting everybody for a banquet.
Although the gang is suspicious, they decide to embrace this unexpected celebration with open arms. However things take a dark turn when an anonymous letter arrives, containing a death threat. The worse has yet to come as the Goodman’s servant is found murdered.
After everyone panics, Agnes insists that she’ll find the real culprit. Now you can speak to the four suspects individually–Commander Goodman, Officers Neuer and Steiner near the front and Eleanor in the top-left room. Each has their own suspicions about whodunnit…
Without spoiling the murder mystery too much, this is what you must do to advance the investigation:
As the group scratch their heads, Ringabel susses out the real murderer, which means somebody is in grave peril right about now! The gang hurriedly flee the cellar; before the entrance, they unmask the ninja, Konoe Kikyo, and a battle ensues.
Boss: Konoe Kikyo¶
Level | HP | Weak to |
---|---|---|
39 | 60,000 | Nothing |
The Ninja doesn’t like to talk much, but she’s more than prepared to end lives. She will use Shippujinrai to attack first during the turn, likely causing a K.O. to your weakest party members. Often, she will Default to build up BP and then dish out two lots of Shippujinrai to really cause damage when you don’t want it most.
If any ally reaches critical HP, you may wish to Default with them and not bother healing them, as Kikyo’s Shippujinrai will likely take them out before you can heal them. When the ally inevitably dies, resurrect them with your spare BP and continue the good fight.
Kikyo’s other trick is Utsusemi , which evades a single physical attack with 100% rate; when she uses this, use a normal attack to get rid of it. However, each time Kikyo evades an attack, she will counter with Transience, so expect to take damage.
Kikyo only uses physical attacks, so high defense and defense buffs are good to have. For offense, stick with abilities that do damage (like the Pirate’s Double Damage and Valkyrie’s Judgement) to minimize misses (and thus counter attacks) or, better, magic to bypass Utsusemi.
If you’re struggling, field a high defense Knight and a team of powerful spell-casters with low HP. Since Kikyo’s attacks are all single-target, they will be absorbed by the Knight’s Protect Ally ability, allowing your casters to rain magic without putting their lives at danger.
