Upon stepping inside Caldisla, you’ll receive information about Magic. To the west of the city you’ll find the Magic shop (with the staff icon on the bottom screen); inside you can purchase the scrolls for Level 1 White Magic and Black Magic. For now purchase Cure and possibly Poisona (and eventually Blindna).
With these scrolls, your characters can use the corresponding magic if they have the correct ability–either as part of their job or as a Job Command. For example, you must have the White Magic Level 1 ability (White Mage ability) to use Level 1 White Magic (Cure, Poisona, Blindna).
You can also use magic outside of battle by opening the main menu and going to “Magic”. Like during battle, a character must have the correct ability to use magic. This is handy if you want to heal your party after a tough battle when there’s no inn in sight.

After getting your head around magic, make a beeline for the palace to report your findings to the king. The king praises Tiz and Agnes for chasing away the Eternians, but Caldisla’s troubles aren’t over yet as the remaining Eternians have fled to their stronghold at Lontano Villa.
Before you go rushing along into danger again, the bridge to the villa is currently in disrepair, so the king advises you sleep away your battle sores until it’s fixed again. Well, off to the inn we go then!
New Trouble; New Friend¶
During the middle of the night, Agnes wakes up Tiz to alert him of trouble brewing in town. Outside, the Eternian forces have set a house on fire, threatening the citizens to hand over Agnes. However, there’s discord among the ranks and eventually the Eternians withdraw.
The next day, Owen informs Tiz and Agnes that the Eternian fire-starters are stationed at Centro Keep to the north of Caldisla. As usual, Agnes is intent on marching to the enemy’s base to put things right. However, at this moment, a mysterious man steps forth–one who has apparently lost all memories of his past.
Although the man, Ringabel, recalls nothing of himself, he has somehow come into possession of a strange journal that seemingly contains details of the future. Because of an interesting passage in his journal, he requests Tiz and Agnes take him along to the keep.
Agnes is vehemently opposed, but Tiz doesn’t mind an extra pair of swords. We could certainly use all the help we can muster. Thus Ringabel joins your ever-expanding party of heroes.
Now that you have three members in your party, your options in battle widen again. At the moment, we recommend switching Ringabel to a Monk and keeping Tiz as a Freelancer, so Tiz can learn more Freelancer abilities. However, the choice is up to you.
Just remember to check your equipment after changing jobs (for instance, Monks are better off unarmed right now). You should also buy some better equipment for Ringabel before setting off.
