This page will tell you everything you need to know about Mohg’s Great Rune including where to find it, how to activate it, and what it does.
Where to find Mohg’s Great Rune in Elden Ring¶
You’ll have to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood to obtain this Great Rune. You can find him at the end of Mohgwyn Palace. This place can be accessed two ways, via the Pureblood Knight’s Medal or via a teleporter in the Consecrated Snowfield secret area.
Pureblood Knight’s Medal Route¶
This is the earliest and easiest way to meet Mohg. You’ll need to complete White-Faced Varré’s quest line. This is a rather short quest line, and you can follow our guide for it here. Once you’ve obtained the Medal, use it in your inventory (found under Tools) and it’ll transport you to the audience grounds in Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum.
Consecrated Snowfield Route¶
You’ll need both the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) and the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) to gain access to the Consecrated Snowfield. When you have both, go to the Grand Lift of Rold and choose to show the Haligtree Medallion, and it’ll take you there. Inside the Consecrated Snowfield, head northwest past the Yelough Anix Ruins where you can find a teleporter.
Where to activate Mohg’s Great Rune¶
You can activate the Great Rune in the Divine Tower of East Altus which is situated southeast of Leyndell, Royal City. To get there, you’ll need to follow the Castle Ramparts east until you reach a giant lift that’ll take you to the Forbidden Lands. Instead of taking the lift down to the Forbidden Lands, take the southeast exit and follow the bridge along towards the Divine Tower. Note, you will have to defeat the Fell Twins Boss that appears on the bridge to get to the tower.
What does Mohg’s Great Rune do¶
Mohg’s Great Rune allows you to use the Blessing of Blood to summoned spirits. This works on all Spirit Ashes as well as monster and bosses if you invaded someone’s world.
The Blessing of Blood will restore your health every time a Spirit (or enemy if you invaded) kills another enemy (player if you invaded). If blood-loss is inflicted, the spirits will gain a buff to their damage for a short while. When you invade a player with this rune activated, you’ll receive three temporary items called Phantom Great Runes. These will buff the enemies and/or bosses in proximity from you. This Rune is great for a heavy blood build using spirit ashes, but useless in any other scenario.
