Information and walkthrough for Murkwater Catacombs location in Elden Ring, including details about how to defeat the Grave Warden Duelist and obtain the Battle Hammer.
How to Find Murkwater Catacombs¶
To find Murkwater Catacombs, follow a river running north from the eastern half of Lake Agheel - be wary of Flying Dragon Agheel as you search for this river. Head north up the river and you’ll eventually find the cave entrance to your left - a brazier marks the entrance. Be wary, however, as you’ll likely have to fight Bloody Finger Nerijus as you head up the river. This cave entrance leads to the Murkwater Cave - follow the river further north and you’ll eventually reach the Murkwater Catacombs.
Alternatively, if you travel to the Artist’s Shack area and head west you’ll find some ruins bridging the chasm the river has carved. Use these ruins to cross over to the west and follow the edge of the chasm northeast until you find a crone statue on some rocks. Interact with it and a beam of light will guide you down into the chasm, and northwest of this crone you’ll find some ledges you can use to descend into the chasm.
However you go about it, make your way to the northwestern end of the river and turn southwest to find a door leading to the catacombs.

How to Complete the Murkwater Catacombs¶
Once through the doors, head down some stairs to find the Murkwater Catacombs Site of Grace, which will make dying in this already short dungeon less of a nuisance.
When you’re rested up, head southwest down some stairs and be wary of the walls, as Jade Goblins roost about the room. These critters like to play possum, and can be found sitting on the floor (usually along walls or in corners) or clinging to said walls, waiting for an opportune moment to strike. Some Jade Goblins will prefer melee, while others are content to lob projectiles - the former of which can inflict blood loss buildup.
Kill three Jade Goblins in the statue-lined room southwest of the Site of Grace, then continue down some more stairs to the southwest to reach a fork. Note the path northwest, then ignore it and continue southwest. Be wary of a pressure plate in the middle of the hallway, as it’ll cause a series of flaming bolts to shoot down the hallway from the room ahead. Two projectile-throwing Jade Goblins stand in plain sight, hoping to entice you to charge onto the pressure plate, while a third Jade Goblin lurks just around the corner of the left, waiting to ambush you. If you can lure the Jade Goblins towards the hallway, you may be able to trigger the pressure plate and use the trap to your advantage.
Dispatch the second trio of Jade Goblins, then head into the room they occupied and pull a lever. Once done, backtrack to the fork and go down the stairs to the northwest and be wary of another pressure plate just before the next room. No surprises for guessing that another three Jade Goblins dwell here - two with ranged attacks to bait you, and a third lurking in ambush.
With the third trio of Jade Goblins defeated, go through the doors to the northwest and descend some stairs to find a familiar wall of fog. Beyond this fog lurks the Grave Warden Duelist. Use summons to your advantage and he shouldn’t be too much of a problem. He’ll drop a Battle Hammer when vanquished.
