Grafted Scion - Chapel of Anticipation

You’ll encounter Grafted Scion at the very start of the game and for most new players, you’ll stand no chance against it. No need to fret however, you’ll get a chance for a rematch when you’re much stronger. Defeating Grafted Scion will drop the Ornamental Straight Sword.

Soldier of Godrick - Cave of Knowledge

Soldier of Godrick is a Boss at the end of the Cave of Knowledge.

This is an optional Boss encountered at the end of the Cave of Knowledge and there’s not much to say about him. He only serves to teach you the basics of these types of battles and your reward is just a paltry number of Runes.

Ulcerated Tree Spirit - Fringefolk Hero’s Grave

The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is a challenging Boss at the end of Fringefolk Hero’s Grave.

Another optional Boss you can encounter almost instantly if you took the Stonesword Key as your Keepsake and use it on the statue inside The First Step. This is a very difficult early dungeon followed by Ulcerated Tree Spirit itself being very difficult, especially for newer players. It’s better to return here once you’ve got to grips with the game and powered up some.

Tree Sentinel - Limgrave Road

Tree Sentinel.

As soon as you step out into Limgrave, you’ll spot this fearsome looking foe atop its horse in front of you. Once you manage to defeat the Tree Sentinel, you’ll obtain the Golden Halberd.

Mad Pumpkin Head - Waypoint Ruins

Mad Pumpkin Head

You’ll find the Waypoint Ruins, an optional dungeon in Limgrave, to the east of Lake Agheel. Traverse this dungeon and you’ll find the Mad Pumpkin Head at the bottom. Defeat him to gain access to Sorceress Sellen who will sell you Sorceries.

Demi-Human Chief - Coastal Cave

Demi-Human Chief in Coastal Cave.

Heading through the optional Coastal Cave has many benefits, but you’ll need to defeat the two Demi-Human Chiefs to gain passage. You’ll find them at the bottom and if you defeat them, you’ll obtain the Tailoring Tools and Sewing Needle.

Flying Dragon Agheel - Dragon-Burnt Ruins

Flying Dragon Agheel.

This is one of the most fearsome optional Bosses you can encounter in Limgrave, found in the ruins of Lake Agheel. As you may expect with a dragon foe, you’ll want some resistance to Fire but if you manage to fell it, you’ll obtain the Dragon Heart.

Crucible Knight - Stormhill Evergaol

Crucible Knight.

Once you’ve entered Stormhill for the first time, head west to find Stormhill Evergaol. You’ll be able to transport to an arena where you’ll take on the Crucible Knight, an optional Boss. Defeat it to obtain the Aspects of the Crucible: Tail Incantation.

Bloodhound Knight Darriwil - Forlon Hound Evergaol

Bloodhound Darriwil can be found at Forlorn Evergaol.

Black Knife Assassin - Deathtouched Catacombs

The Black Knife Assassin in Limgrave.

There is more than one Black Knife Assassin in the Lands Between, but you can find the first one here in Limgrave’s Deathtouched Catacombs, found in the northeast of Limgrave. Defeat the Assassin to obtain the Assassin’s Crimson Dagger, an incredibly useful Talisman that will heal you whenever you make a critical attack.

Tibia Mariner - Summonwater Village

You’ll find the Tibia Mariner at Summonwater Village.

Just like the Black Knife Assassin above, you’ll find more than one Tibia Mariner in the Lands Between. This one can be found at Summonwater Village, located to the far northeast of Limgrave. Defeat the Tibia Mariner to obtain the Deathroot (Quest item) and the Skeletal Militiaman Ashes.

Erdtree Burial Watchdog - Stormfoot Catacombs

The Erdtree Burial Watchdog awaits players at the end of the Stormfoot Catacombs.

If you’re doing some early exploring in Elden Ring, you’re like to stumble on Stromfoot Catacombs early on. At the bottom of the dungeon, you’ll encounter the Erdtree Burial Watchdog and if you defeat it, you’ll obtain the Noble Sorcerer Ashes.

Night’s Cavalry - (Night only) Bridge north of Agheel Lake

Night’s Cavalry in Limgrave.

This is another optional Boss where you’ll find them in multiple locations in the Lands Between. This Night’s Cavalry can only be found patrolling the bridge north of Agheel Lake at night. Defeat the Night’s Cavalry to obtain the Ash of War: Repeating Thrust and Nightrider Glaive.

Beastman of Farum Azula - Groveside Cave

The Beastman of Farum Azula can be found in the Groveside Cave.

This is one of the easier optional dungeons in the game and, at the bottom, the Beast of Farum Azula is also one of the easier bosses. Defeat it to obtain the Flamedrake Talisman.

Recusant Henricus (Invader) - Stormhill, east of the shack

Recusant Henricus is found in the northeast corner of Limgrave at Stormhill.

This will be your first instance of fighting against a Phantom, an NPC version of an invader that you may have already encountered if you’re playing Elden Ring online. You’ll encounter him east of the shack in Stormhill and if you defeat him, you’ll obtain the Hammer Talisman and a Furlcalling Finger Remedy.

Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater (Invader) - Outside Smoldering Church

The Bell Bearing Hunter in Limgrave.

The next Invader located in Limgrave, the Bell Bearing Hunter is lurking around the Stormhill area of Limgrave. Take the Bell Bearing Hunter down to obtain the Bell Peddler’s Bell Bearing (Quest item).

Stonedigger Troll - Limgrave Tunnels

Stonedigger Troll

The Limgrave Tunnels are located to the southeast of Gatefront Ruins, and you’ll want to ensure you have a piercing weapon or magic to deal with the miners there. Defeat Stonedigger Troll at the bottom of the tunnels to obtain the Great Club.

Bloody Finger Nerijus (Invader) - Stream outside Murkwater Cave

Bloody Finger Nerijus

As you make your way to Murkwater Cave via the stream leading north from Lake Agheel, you’ll be invaded by Bloody Finger Nerijus. He’s a dangerous foe with lightning quick attacks that will cause Bleed however Yura, an NPC, will assist you in the battle. Defeat him to receive the unique dagger, Reduiva and a Furlcalling Finger Remedy.

Patches (Boss) - Murkwater Cave

As you make your way through Murkwater Cave, located north of Lake Agheel, you’ll face off against Patches, a fan favorite in all of From Software’s games. You’ll only have to take him down to half HP to end the battle and once you do, he’ll open his shop with some useful wares while also starting his Quest.

Margit, the Fell Omen - Stormhill

Margit, the Fell Omen.

There’s no avoiding Margit, the Fell Omen, he’s a mandatory boss that you must defeat to gain access to the imposing Stormveil Castle and continue your journey throughout the Lands Between.
