This page offers a guide on how to find and light all 6 obelisk altars in Nokron, Eternal City in Elden Ring.
Where to Find All 6 Obelisk Altar Locations to Unlock the Regal Ancestor Spirit¶
In order to unlock the Regal Ancestor Spirit boss, you’ll need to first light all the obelisk altars found in Nokron, of which there are six. When you light an altar, a sconce near Hallowhorn Grounds lights up. When all sconces are lit (and all altars), you’ll have access to Regal Ancestor Spirit.
Below, you’ll find a map depicting all six altars’ location. You’ll also find a quick break down of what lies in store at each altar, as some are guarded by enemies.
Altar #1¶
If you’re heading down from Hallowhorn Grounds, the first obelisk will be to the left as you head down the steps. It’s next to a ledge beneath the large bridge. There are no enemies near this altar so you can light it in peace.
Altar #2¶
The next altar is directly south of this one, across the road that passes Hallowhorn Grounds. If you’re looking to avoid any fights, watch the road from a distance and allow any Ancestral Followers (tall deer-human hybrids) to pass by before you cross. There are a couple that patrol this area but you can light the second altar undetected if you wish.
Altar #3¶
The third altar is visible from the second, as it’s just up on a small ledge overlooking the path. There are three enemies near this altar - one is singing right next to the altar and then there are two patrolling the path below. You’ll want to take out the two on the path first and then climb up to take out the singing Ancestral Follower before you light the altar.
Altar #4¶
The fourth altar is definitely easy to miss as it doesn’t quite follow the path. After the third altar, head up the hill to the left towards a large boulder jutting out of the ground. Go around to the back of the boulder to find the altar, which is hidden when you’re down on the path. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for a couple of minor wolf enemies and an unnamed mini boss version of Red Wolf of Radagon, who you may have encountered at the Academy of Raya Lucaria. The Red Wolf is a lot easier to defeat this time, since you have your horse and you can fight it on horse-back to either keep up with its agility or keep yourself at a greater distance to get in some safer ranged attacks.
If you approach the altar slowly, and keep an eye out for the wolf, you can definitely avoid starting a fight and just light the altar without any issues. Just be sure to steer clear to avoid being spotted if you don’t want the fight.
Altar #5¶
You’ll want to head back onto the path and continue along it till it ends to find the fifth altar. There are a fair few enemies guarding the altar - around four Ancestral Followers, including a singing one closest to the altar. Your best bet here is to kill them each quickly and separately - avoid letting them bunch up around you as you can get easily overwhelmed by them chain attacking you. They’re reasonably well spaced out when you approach this area, so aim to take out the one to the left first then the one next to the steps and defeat the other two afterwards.
Altar #6¶
The final altar you’ll need to light is up at the top of the hill on the cliff, northwest of the fifth altar. As you approach you’ll hear some more of the singing Ancestral Followers, there are two of them hanging around the cliff edge near the altar. There are also a few rats around, which are more annoying than you’d expect! They’ll nip at you and are quick, so they’re harder to hit than you’d like.
Once you’ve lit all altars, head back to Hallowhorn Grounds and interact with the large deer carcass at the center to open the fog gate into the boss arena.
