Elden Ring

How to Find and Complete the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave

By
Nathan Garvin

Information and walkthrough for the Waypoint Ruins location in Elden Ring, including how to defeat the Mad Pumpkin Head and find Sorceress Sellen.

How to Find the Waypoint Ruins

The Waypoint Ruins are located to the southeast of the Gatefront Ruins, just follow the road southeast, cross a bridge, and when you reach a fork, turn south. The ruins will be uphill to the left (east). Be wary of a [Troll]-drawn carriage convoy along the road southeast of the Gatefront Ruins, along with the [Kaiden Sellswords] you can find patrolling the road.

How to Complete the Waypoint Ruins

The road is dangerous enough, but matters don’t improve once you reach your destination. All may seem peaceful at first, but these ruins are occupied by Poison Flower, which on their own aren’t much of a threat. The extent of their ambitions is to slowly shuffle over towards you and release a cloud of poison spores. A larger specimen, a Giant Poison Flower, is more troublesome. Although it’s less mobile, it can cast spells - if you see white beams of light in the air around you, get moving or suffer. It can also expel a massive cloud of poisonous spores while trying to bludgeon you with its body. Fire damage works well against all these plants, who tend to congregate along the northeastern end of the ruins.

The Mad Pumpkin Head boss awaits you in the depths of the ruins.

In a mostly-enclosed ruin to the south you’ll find some stairs leading underground. Descend them and you’ll find a familiar mist wall, beyond which lies the Mad Pumpkin Head. If you use pretty much any summon this fight will be trivially easy, as the boss doesn’t hit very hard nor does it have a large HP pool. Strike it down and you may obtain the Pumpkin Helm item, but it’s not a guaranteed drop.

How to Find Sorceress Sellen

Defeat the Mad Pumpkin Head and you’ll be able to access the Waypoint Ruins Cellar Site of Grace. More importantly, you can head south through a doorway to find Sorceress Sellen. Talk to her and agree to her terms and she’ll offer to teach you glintstone sorceries - or in other words, she’ll sell you sorcery-related items:

Item Cost (Souls) Notes
Glintstone Pebble 1000 -
Glintstone Stars 3000 -
Glintstone Arc 1500 -
Crystal Barrage 1500 -
Scholar’s Armament 3000 -
Scholar’s Shield 2500 -

All in all, by default Sorceress Sellen will sell a variety of starter spells that should be sufficient to get you through the early game. She’ll sell you more wares if you give her the Royal House Scroll, as follows:

Item Cost (Souls) Notes
Glintblade Phalanx 2500 -
Carian Slicer 1500 -

While Sorceress Sellen is a good source of starter sorceries, she does not sell you a staff, which you’ll need to have equipped to channel these spells. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to source it from elsewhere, and we suggest seeking out the Meteorite Staff. You’ll find a walkthrough for obtaining the Meteorite Staff on the linked page.
