How to Find Kenneth Haight and Complete his Quest

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to find Kenneth Haight and complete his quest in Elden Ring.

Kenneth Haight.

How to Find Kenneth Haight

Kenneth Haight can be found atop some ruins near the road heading northeast from Mistwood Outskirts Site of Grace in East Limgrave (see map below) - you’ll be able to hear him shouting for help when you approach the area. He’ll ask you to take back his fort which is found south, beyond the Mistwood.

You can either follow the road nearby, which initially heads up northeast and then meanders back towards the south (as shown below), or you can just head straight down south, cutting across the fields and the woods until you spot a modest sized fort overlooking the coast.

Path from Kenneth Haigh to Fort Haight.

How to Clear Out Haight Fort

Before you head into Haight Fort, you’ll want to rest at Fort Haight site of grace, which is just below the fort itself, near the beach to the west.

Then, you’ll have to head up the path towards the Fort, which will have a few weaker melee enemies. You’ll want to take them out now otherwise they’ll just follow you up and join in on the tougher fight up ahead.

(1 of 2) Take out the knights

Take out the knights (left), and the Pumpkin Head guarding the fort. (right)

In this courtyard area prior to the fort itself, you’ll need to fight off a few stronger knights and a Pumpkin Head enemy. You’ll want to draw the Pumpkin Head enemy down from the steps to make it easier for you to roll around. Upon defeating the Pumpkin Head enemy, you’ll get a Chainlink Flail. Careful with this fight though, try to avoid using up all your flasks and resources as the fight inside the fort is a little trickier!

When you head through the gate into the fort, you’ll want to run straight through this inner courtyard and look for cover to avoid the numerous enemies that’ll shoot flaming arrows at you. If you head up the steps, there’s a weak enemy to the right, next to the barrels. There are a couple of minor enemies that’ll be shooting at you that you’ll want to take out before facing the mini boss of this area.

When you enter into the fort, you’ll be greeted by a couple of flaming arrows!

Once you’ve cleared out the lower level, you’ll want to follow the steps all the way to the top of the walls of the fort, where you’ll find the mini boss of the fort - an unnamed knight in golden armor. He wields a pretty nasty sword but his big slashing blows are quite slow and easy to interrupt with your own attacks (if you’re in melee combat). Upon defeating him, you’ll get an Ash of War: Blood Slash. Make sure to check all the nooks and crannies of the fort for extra loot. For example, atop the tallest turret - which can be reached by climbing a ladder near where you fought the golden knight, you’ll find a chest containing Dectus Medallion (Left).

(1 of 2) The Golden Knight is the mini boss of the fort

The Golden Knight is the mini boss of the fort (left), you’ll get a new Ash of War for defeating him though! (right)

Kenneth Haight Reward

When you return to Kenneth Haight, who’s found atop the ruins nearby Mistwood Outskirts site, he’ll thank you for your service and reward you with an Erdsteel Dagger.

Kenneth will give you an Erdsteel Dagger as a reward.

Upon receiving the reward, make sure to speak to him two more times to exhaust all dialogue options. First he will tell you he is returning to the fort, and then when you talk to him again you’ll be prompted to pledge service to him, which should you accept you’ll be asked to meet him back at Fort Haight for your knighting ceremony.

Kenneth Haight at Fort Haight

Once you return to Fort Haight, it’ll be overrun with enemies again - luckily no pumpkin heads or golden armored knight. Once you’ve taken out the handful of weak enemies, speak to Kenneth, who’s found atop the castle’s walls. He’ll tell you he can’t actually make you a knight as he doesn’t have the authority. He wants to find a legitimate ruler for Limgrave.

(1 of 2) When you next go to Fort Haight, you’ll have to clear it out again

When you next go to Fort Haight, you’ll have to clear it out again (left), and then Kenneth will tell you he can’t actually make you a knight because he needs a real lord. (right)

What Happens if you Kill Kenneth and What Does He Drop?

If you decide to kill Kenneth, he’ll drop a Golden Seed.

Final Meeting - Stormveil Castle

Once you reach Crumbling Farum Azula, return to the Roundtable Hold and exhaust the dialogue options between Smithing Master Hewg and Roderika, you will need to rest several times at the Site of Grace to refresh the area. You’ll need to ensure that you’ve completed Nepheli Loux’s Quest up to the point you hand her The Stormhawk King.

Make your way over to the Godrick, the Grafted Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle and rest at it again to refresh the area (this is required) and you’ll find Nepheli and Kenneth in the throne room. Nepheli has seemingly taken up the role of the new ruler of Limgrave and will hand over an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. If you’ve managed to see Gatekeeper Gostoc’s Quest to its conclusion, you’ll find him here too and he will offer to sell you another one for 20,000 Runes.
