The gameplay systems got a huge boost in God of War Ragnarok with more ways to build Kratos than ever before. With the expansion of the Amulet system giving you up to nine enchantment slots, and more gear, relic, and runic attack options, you can create some very diverse builds, but what are the best? Read below to find out what we think are the best builds in God of War Ragnarok.
What Makes a Good Build in God of War Ragnarok¶
Firstly, you’ll need to pick your Equipment which you’ll need to choose between three pieces of armor to equip which each come with their own special perks. The chest piece will have a different perk from the wrists and waist which means you can mix and match the perks to create the basics of your build. From there, you have the Amulet which can host up to nine enchantments. There are nine “sets” of these named after each realm, and you’ll need three of the same to unlock a special set perk. Then you have a choice of 24 single enchantments that are not tied to a set, but do require a certain amount of a specific attribute to unlock its perk. Finally, you have to pick a hilt for each weapon which will supplement the build.
Moving on from equipment, you have a choice of several light and heavy runic attacks for each weapon which will enhance your build as it’ll add more stun or status damage among other stuff. Then you’ll have an option to add effects to your skills which can also enhance your Maelstrom, Stun, or Damage or Defense. From there you have a large assortment of Relics to equip which all have a wide array of different effects to add. Finally, you have your companion who can supplement the build depending on whether you choose Hex or Sonic attacks with their arrows, their Runic Summon, and even their weapon, and accessories. When you mix them all together, you can create a lot of different builds where some of them will be better in different situations.
