How to Find the Eastern Barri Woods

During the main quest The Reckoning you’ll travel to Vanaheim, passing through The Southern WIlds and Freyr’s Camp before reaching the Eastern Barri Woods. There are five collectibles in this region, but you can’t actually obtain any of them on your first visit - you’re just passing through en route to The Abandoned Village.

A fair bit later in the game you’ll return to Vanaheim as part of the main quest Creatures of Prophecy, where you’ll have to pass through the Eastern Barri Forest again, albeit via an alternate route that allows you to nab most of the collectibles, save for the Remnants of Asgard, which is only available in postgame play.

You won’t be able to nab any of the collectibles in the Eastern Barri Woods until you obtain the Draunpir Spear, which is capable of sundering boulders.

From Freyr’s Camp, exit through the gate and follow the linear path until you’re prompted to use the Draupnir Spear to destroy a boulder in your way. Beyond this point the path largely links up with your first trip through the area, taking you through some ruins (you’ll fight a Stalker here on your second visit, instead of an Ancient) before you need to crawl through a cave to reach the Eastern Barri Forest. Follow the path until you reach a fork - on your first visit you turned left (north), but since this route is now blocked turn right (southeast) to find another boulder you can destroy with the Draupnir Spear. Most of the collectibles in the Eastern Barri Forest are beyond this boulder.

Search some ruins to find this area’s Nornir Chest.

After destroying the second boulder with the Draupnir Spear, continue forward until you reach a fork in the path. Take a left (east) at this fork and follow this path until you find some stone steps to the left (east). Head up these stairs and follow this path to reach some ruins, where this Nornir Chest lies. This particular Nornir Chest is a rune pole puzzle where you have to strike panels to cycle between several runes - once all the runes on the poles match those on the chest, the Nornir Chest will unlock.

  • Rune 1: From the Nornir Chest, turn around and head southeast to exit the ruins. Once outside, immediately turn right to find some brambles. Use Runic Arrows and the Blades of Chaos to ignite the brambles and reveal the first rune pole.

  • Rune 2: Just to the left (west) of the Nornir Chest. This one is basically a freebie.

(1 of 3) The second rune pole can be found just to the left of the Nornir Chest.

  • Rune 3: From the Nornir Chest head southwest to find another path leading into the forest, overlooking the path you were on previously. Kill the Wulver at the end of the path, then look up and to the southwest to find a hard-to-spot rune pole hiding in front of some distant ruins. You might have to aim just above the panel to hit it from this distance.

Turn all three rune poles to unlock the Nornir Chest, after which you can claim your prize - either an Idunn Apple or a Horn of Blood Mead.

(1 of 2) You’ll find the Scroll - The Aesir Promise on the path that leads to the Nornir Chest.

Scroll - The Aesir Promise

After destroying the second boulder with the Draupnir Spear, continue forward until you reach a fork in the path. Take a left (east) at this fork and follow this path until you find some stone steps to the left (east). Go up the stairs and keep looking to the right of the path and you should spot theScroll - The Aesir Promise on the ground.

Rune Read - Verdant

One of the few collectibles that can’t be found immediately past the second boulder you need to destroy with the Draupnir Spear, continue through the area until you pass by Skoll and Hati’s lair, beyond which you’ll reach some ruins. Once inside the ruins, search the walls to the left (southwest) to find the Rune Read - Verdant scrawled on the ruins.

Follow a path southwest, then look west to spot one of Odin’s Ravens.

From the Nornir Chest (see above), turn southwest and head through an arch to find an alternate path leading back into the forest. Kill the Wulver at the end and look west to find one of Odin’s Ravens hiding in a tree.

(1 of 2) Find some ruins and cross the river cutting through them to reach the Einherjar camp.

Where to Find All Remnants of Asgard in the Eastern Barri Woods

You can only clear the Remnants of Asgard if you’ve reached the main quest Beyond Ragnarok. Once Beyond Ragnarok has started, travel to Freyr’s Camp and exit via the northeastern gate, which will lead to the Eastern Barri Woods. Travel through the Eastern Barri Woods to reach some ruins - the same ruins where you fought an Ancient on your first visit and a Stalker on your second visit. Cross the river to the northeast to find the Einherjar camp, where you’ll find a Dodher Wyvern in addition to several Einherjar. Kill them to complete this collectible, but note you can also pick up the Lore Scroll - Defend the Prison, which one of the Einherjar will drop. This doesn’t count as a collectible.
