God of War: Ragnarok

All Collectibles in Vanaheim - The Plains

By
Jarrod Garripoli

This page will detail all of the collectibles found in The Plains area of Vanaheim in God of War Ragnarok.

Vanaheim is one of the nine realms you will visit during the main course of the story, and was the home of Freya. One of the areas of Vanaheim you will explore is called The Plains, although you won’t be able to visit this place until much later in the game. After finishing the second story trip to Vanaheim, you will have to do a few more things and then, you will have access to The Plains. It is the first area of The Crater you visit, but it’s best to wait until you’ve completed Return of the River before you fully explore it, as navigating the waters is needed for some of the collectibles. Note that the Wishing Well is considered part of The Plains.

Where to Find the First Yggdrasil Rift in The Plains

The first Yggdrasil Rift is located on a small island and requires the Return of the River favor to be completed. You will find it towards the southeastern corner, so dock the boat and touch the rift to start a battle. You will be fighting two Bergsra here, one being level 7 and one being level 8, so you will need to be careful if you’re a lower level. If you’re having trouble, which is possible due to the small space, come back later on when you are a little beefier. After defeating both enemies, interact with the rift again to get your reward. Note that this is the only rift found in The Plains that requires you to defeat enemies.

Row to this small island and dock your boat to access the Yggdrasil Rift. Note the Treasure Map present on the island here too.

Where to Find the First Lore in The Plains

Treasure Map - A Scar is Born

You will find this on the same island as the Yggdrasil Rift above. You can grab it before or after doing the rift.

Where to Find the Second Lore in The Plains

Lore Marker - Stupidity

From the island mentioned above, sail to the west (make sure it’s night) and dock at the beach at the very end. You should trigger the In the Dead of Night favor here, but don’t drop into the pit, as that triggers a Dreki fight. To to side, there is a wall you can grapple to, allowing you to then reach a ledge above with a red chest. There is also a zipline up here, so take it to the other side to find some Seidr. Take them out, then look on the other side of the area to find the Lore Marker - Stupidity.

Where to Find the First Odin’s Raven in The Plains

Double back to where you triggered the favor mentioned above, and drop into the pit to fight the Dreki. After defeating it, look at the northern end to find the Raven sitting on some rocks. Note that it’s possible to hit this Raven from the area with the Celestial Altar too, as shown in the screenshot below.

You can hit this raven if you look down to the southeast from the platform where the Celestial Altar is.

Where to Find the First Nornir Chest in The (Western) Plains

Locate the gate you can open in the pit with the above Dreki and follow it to the main area. Keep heading north until you see a ledge you can drop off of, with another gate that has poison seeping out from under it. Plant some Sigils by the right side of the gate, then toss your axe at the Sigil to freeze the totem on the other side of the wall, allowing you to open the gate. Defeat the enemies inside, and you will find the Nornir Chest in this area. You simply need to destroy three Runes to open it.

  • First Rune: On some rocks on the western side of the area.
  • Second Rune: Inside the tree on the eastern side of the area.
  • Third Rune: Freeze the totem on the north side of the area, then go behind the wooden statue to find this Rune.

If you need additional help with this one, you can see the video below.

Where to Find the Third Lore in The Plains

Lore Marker - Apology

This Lore Marker is in the same area as the Nornir Chest above. It’s on the southern side, next to where the gate is located.

Where to Find the Second Odin’s Raven in The Plains

Leave the area where you found the Nornir Chest above and head to the cliffside while still in this lower section. You should see a grapple to cross the gap, but don’t use it just yet. Instead, look down and to the left to spot the Raven on a lower ledge.

You can see the raven on the ledge below if you look south from the grapple point.

Where to Find the Legendary Chest in The Plains

After getting the above Raven, grapple across both gaps and climb the wall on the other side to get to one of the Celestial Altars. While up here, you can peer into a blocked off area on the one side, where you should see a rock wall with a wind vent. Throw your spear at it, making sure not to detonate it, then look for the drop off ledge by the altar to get back to the main area. Find the rock wall on this side to see another two wind vents, so do the same thing. Once you have hit all three vents, detonate the spears to bust down the wall and find the Legendary Chest. You’ll receive the Honor the Fallen Heavy Runic Attack for the Draupnir Spear.

(1 of 2) You’ll find a hidden point in the rock here to throw your Draupnir Spear, but don’t detonate it yet.

You’ll find a hidden point in the rock here to throw your Draupnir Spear, but don’t detonate it yet. (left), Throw two additional Draupnir Spears into these points on the other side of the rock, then detonate all three at once. (right)

Where to Find the Third Odin’s Raven in The Plains

Return to the main area of the Eastern Plains and continue straight east, until you reach your boat on the shore. Ignore the boat and look on the rocks just left (north) of it to find the Raven.

You’ll see the Raven on the cliffside as you look north.

Where to Find the Fourth Odin’s Raven in The Plains

You will need to defeat the dragon that’s part of the For Vanaheim! favor. Once you do that, you will be able to explore the area in which you fought it. On the western side of the area, there is a hole in the ground which you can look down to find the raven.

Go to the western side of the area to find the raven here.

Where to Find the Second Yggdrasil Rift in The Plains

This Yggdrasil Rift is in the same area as the fourth Raven, as well as where you fought the dragon during For Vanaheim! After defeating the dragon, look at the northeastern end to find the rift. Note that this one is part of The Lost Lindwyrms favor, so if you don’t have the trap from that, you won’t be able to do anything with the rift. If you are doing that favor, then you will capture one of the Lindwyrms for it. Interact with the rift after capturing it to make the rift count towards completion.

You’ll find this Yggdrasil Rift in the northeastern part of the area.

Seasonal Stag - Stag of Winter

You will run into this Stag while completing the For Vanaheim! favor. After defeating the dragon, climb the wall and meet up with your friend. Follow the path over to the Mystic Gateway and look east of it to find the Stag. Note that you need to have gotten the feed from Ratatoskr before you can send it on its way. If this is your first interaction with a Stag, the relevant favor will be added to your log, but you will still need to go back to Sindri’s House to get the feed.

The Stag of Winter can be found here just to the left of the Mystic Gateway.

Where to Find the Draugr Hole in The Plains

Return to the main area of The Plains and locate your boat. Get in it and sail to the northeastern portion of the entire area. You should see a dock here, so get off the boat and go up the stairs to find the Draugr Hole. Like all of them, you need to defeat the miniboss that spawns from it to complete the thing.

The Hateful will spawn at the Draugr Hole as you head up the steps.

Where to Find the Fifth Odin’s Raven in The Plains

Near the Draugr Hole location above, you should see another shore to your southeast. This will place you near a blacksmith shop, so go here. If you look east across the chasm, you should see the Raven perched on the cliffside there.

(1 of 2) You’ll see the Celestial Altar to the west from the spot where you can see the Odin’s Raven.

You’ll see the Celestial Altar to the west from the spot where you can see the Odin’s Raven. (left), You will find the Odin’s Raven on this rock looking east from the Celestial Altar. (right)

Where to Find the Fourth Lore in The Plains

Lore Marker - Seidr

While in the same area as the blacksmith, head to the upper area to find more Seidr enemies. Get rid of them, then look for the Lore Marker right by the stairs you used to get up to this section.

You can see the Seidr Lore Marker next to the Celestial Altar here.

Where to Find the Third Yggdrasil Rift in The Plains

This is in the same area as as the blacksmith above. After clearing out the Seidr, go to the ledge above the Mystic Gateway and just continue north until you reach the edge, which is where you’ll find the Yggdrasil Rift.

You need the trap from The Lost Lindwyrms favor before you can interact with this one.

Where to Find the Second Nornir Chest in The (Eastern) Plains

The Nornir Chest can be found on the eastern side of the Eastern Plains, just north of the area with the Seidr above, but it’s on the ground level. To open this one, you have to hit the three Rune bells in quick succession.

  • First Rune: Located to the right of the chest, slightly hidden in the alcove there.
  • Second Rune: Located just left of the chest.
  • Third Rune: On top of the rocks to the north of the chest. This bell is covered in Hel’s brambles, so you have to burn them with the Blades. It’s easiest to get to them by the rift mentioned above, since you don’t need to use Sigils. Save this bell to hit last.

You can see the video below if you need help with this one.
