God of War: Ragnarok

All Collectibles in Alberich Island

By
Nathan Garvin

How to find every collectible in the Alberich Island area in God of War Ragnarok, including Nornir Chests, Lore, Buried Treasure and Yggdrasil Rifts. Some collectibles may not be obtainable on your first visit, in which case this guide will mention if that’s the case with as few spoilers as possible. None of the collectibles in God of War: Ragnarok are missable, as you can come back later in post-game.

How to Find Alberich Island

During the main quest The Quest for Tyr you’ll travel to Svartalfheim, passing through the Aurvangar Wetlands and Nidavellir as you seek answers. Eventually you’ll be tasked with finding a dwarf named Durlin, which will take you into the Bay of Bounty. Alberich Island (not to be confused with Alberic Hollow, to the south) can be found along the northeastern corner of the Bay of Bounty.

There are a great deal of collectibles here, but sadly only one of them - the Nornir chest - can be obtained during your first visit. Still, there’s plenty of incentive to plunder this chest before moving on.

(1 of 6) Have Atreus shoot a crane with sonic arrows, warping the device and revealing a rune gong.

How to Open the Nornir Chest on Alberich Island

There’s only one Nornir chest on Alberich Island, and it’s just east of where you beach your boat. This particular puzzle is one of the gong-rune variants, where instead of runes on destructible rune rocks, the runes are on gongs. Strike the rune gongs to get them to emit a noise that disrupts the locks on the Nornir chest, but be wary, as the gongs only sound so long before their effects waver and the Nornir chest locks up again. You’ll need to strike all three rune gongs in succession before the effects of the first gong wear off.

Your three targets are on a cliff just to the right of the Nornir chest, suspended on a crane to the west and hung from a post to the northwest. The western and northwestern gongs are protected by gates, so there’s a specific order you’ll have to do this in. To access the northwestern gong you’ll need to throw the Leviathan Axe at some rotating panels to the left of the gate, which will raise the post the gong is on. This effect is temporary, however, so you’ll need to strike the gong quickly before it lowers, making this the obvious place to start. Before that, however, head to the western gong and note the glowing green metal around the base of the crane. Shoot it with one of Atreus’s Sonic Arrows to warp the metal and damage the crane, causing the gong suspended by the crane to become exposed. Now you can shoot this gong any time you wish.

  • Rune 1 - To the northwest of the Nornir chest, throw your Leviathan Axe at the revolving panels to the left of the gate to raise the post the rune gong is on. Two hits will give you plenty of time to strike the gong with your Leviathan Axe.

  • Rune 2 - To the west of the Nornir chest, just south of where you had to stand to deal with the first rune (above). Assuming you shot the crane’s base with a Sonic Arrow, the gong should be accessible.

  • Rune 3 - Just to the right of and behind the Nornir chest.

Give these gongs a go and if you hit them all quickly enough, you’ll unlock the Nornir chest. If not… well, you’ll be more familiar with their locations the next time around. Keep trying until the Nornir chest unlocks, then loot it for an Idunn Apple.

How to Activate the Berserker Gravestone on Alberich Island

The Berserker Gravestone is likely to be one of the first things that you see on Alberich Island. However, you won’t be able to activate it on your first visit. You will need to acquire the Hilt of Skofnung during the Word of Fate main quest first. The item will allow you to activate all Berserker Gravestones throughout the realms. This gravestone triggers a fight with Beigadr the Feared.

Where to Find The Lost Treasure Favor on Alberich Island

The Lost Treasure favor forms part of the collectibles on Alberich Island. You will find the relevant spirit just as you climb up the Draupnir Spear that you need to throw into a point in the wall to create a handhold. You can find a detailed guide to this favor, including the part on Alberich Island, on our The Lost Treasure favor page.

Where to Find the Odin’s Raven at Alberich Island

After throwing the Draupnir Spear in the point shown in the screenshot below and then suing the handhold to climb up, head to the east until you see some sonic rock, which you can destroy using Sonic Arrows. You will find the Odin’s Raven flying around the cliffs behind this rock.

(1 of 4) Throw a Draupnir Spear into this point in the wall.

Where to Find the Yggdrasil Rift on Alberich Island

The Yggdrasil Rift isn’t actually located on Alberich Island itself, but it can be found on a structure built on the lake which is accessed from the island. From the area where you found the raven shown above, look west to find a rock with a marking on it, indicating that you can throw a Draupnir Spear into it. Doing this will cause the water wheel to function properly again, and you can now grapple onto a hook leading down to the platform as you head south. You will find the Yggdrasil Rift just to your left as you land on the platform, which contains one of Nidhogg’s children. You need to interact with it again after capturing the creature to obtain the loot.

(1 of 3) Throw a Draupnir Spear at the rock here to get the wheel working again.

Where to Find the Washed Ashore Treasure Map (Lore) on Alberich Island

After interacting with the Yggdrasil Rift, look southwest to grapple over to the other side. You will find the Washed Ashore Treasure Map just to your left immediately after grappling over, which counts as the Lore collectible for Alberich Island. You will find the treasure for this map on the southern side of Dragon Beach.

(1 of 2) Grapple over to the southwest from the Yggdrasil Rift.

Where to Find the Second Odin’s Raven on Alberich Island

The second Odin’s Raven for Alberich Island can be found just up the ledge to the southwest, from the location where you found the Washed Ashore Treasure Map. You’ll see a hole in the rock here, where the raven is perched, as shown in the screenshot below.

Look for the hole in the rock to find the second raven on Alberich Island.

Where to Find the Legendary Chest on Alberich Island

The Legendary Chest is the final collectible on Alberich Island, and it can be tricky to access, but so long as you follow the steps detailed here you should be fine. The first thing you need to do is throw a Draupnir Spear into the marking just north from where you hit the second raven, as shown in the screenshot below, then press DualSense-ButtonTriangle to detonate it and destroy the rock. You then need to continue left until you see a gate chain. Pull it down and then throw your Leviathan Axe into the gear just above where you found the treasure map.

(1 of 2) Throw a spear into the rock here and press triangle to detonate it.

You can now grapple back across to the platform where you found the Yggdrasil Rift, and look west to see another marking in the rock beneath the wheel where you can throw a Draupnir Spear and press DualSense-ButtonTriangle again to detonate it. At this point you can recall the Leviathan Axe and throw it into the geyser, which causes the lift opposite to lower. Now you can grapple over to the lift and recall your axe to cause it to raise again. Once you’re at the top you’ll encounter some Wild Wretches, so kill these and then look west to find a grapple point. Use this to grapple to another facing north, which brings you to the top of the rock where the Legendary Chest can be found.

(1 of 5) Throw a Draupnir Spear into the second rock marking and detonate it to destroy the rock.
