The Dauntless Shield is one of the first shields that you can acquire in God of War Ragnarok, alongside the Stone Wall Shield. These are the two shields that Brok offers to craft for you after the Guardian Shield is broken during your fight with Thor at the beginning of the main story.
How to Get the Dauntless Shield in God of War Ragnarok¶
The Dauntless Shield is one of the easiest to acquire in God of War Ragnarok. All you need to do is speak with Brok or Sindri at one of their Blacksmith Shops, navigate to the Shields section of the Weapons tab and press square to craft it. It will cost you nothing to craft initially.

The full description for the Dauntless Shield special attack is as follows:
“Double Tap L1 to Shield Bash for high Stun damage. Parry (Press L1 right before getting hit) to deal Stun to the attacker and empower your next Shield Bash. Time the Parry perfectly to significantly improve this effect.”
Dauntless Shield Special Attack - Shield Bash¶
The special attack for the Dauntless Shield comes in the form of a shield bash which has the potential to inflict particularly high stun damage. The amount of stun damage inflicted can be increased if you perform a successful perfect parry first. At this point you’ll see the shield begin to glow, indicating that it has some energy preserved in it from the last parry, and the brighter it glows, the more powerful the shield bash will be when you execute the skill by double tapping L1.
If you fail to perform a perfect parry, you will notice that a regular parry is enough to charge the shield slightly. The shield bash performed after this won’t be as powerful as it would be from a perfect parry, but it’s still better than the default use of the skill.
In addition to the melee parrying abilities of the Dauntless Shield, you can also deflect a ranged projectile back at an enemy if you perform a perfect parry on the projectile itself. This works in a similar way to the Guardian Shield, but the main difference here is that you won’t be able to direct where the ranged projectile goes once you’ve perfect parried it. Instead, the projectile will be automatically thrown back at the opponent who launched it.
