How to Find the Well of Urd¶
You’ll first pass through the Well of Urd - a location in Midgard - during the main quest The Word of Fate. During this obligatory story trip you can get most of the collectibles, but you’ll have to return to complete the Hel Tears and the Remnants of Asgard, which unlock during the main quests Reunion and Beyond Ragnarok, respectively.
The Well of Urd is northwest of the Lake of Nine; from a Mystic Gateway (where a dwarven shop is also located) just follow a ravine to the northwest. Climb up a ledge to the west and, assuming Beyond Ragnarok is the active main quest, you’ll encounter the Einherjar who make up the Remnants of Asgard collectible, which includes an Einherjar Rider and its Gradungr mount. If you failed to reach the other collectibles in this area, this encounter will be mandatory to continue. Once the Einherjar are dead you’ll need to use the Blades of Chaos to pull down an obstruction, after which you can climb up a second ledge to the west.
Continue west and you’ll find some cliffs you can ascend with the Blades of Chaos. Do so, climb a ledge, squeeze through a gap between two rocks to the west, the continue northwest to find a cliff you can climb - something you’ll need to do if you want to obtain the Legendary Chest and/or Odin’s Raven. If you’re at or past the main quest Reunion, a Hel Tear will be blocking your way, forcing you to fight some Hel-Reavers to close the rift. Once the rift is closed you can access the cliffs and reach the rest of the collectibles.
Where to Find All Nornir Chests in the Well of Urd¶
As you continue west through the Well of Urd you’ll eventually reach a dead end, which you can only bypass by using the Blades of Chaos to swing between some cliffs, ultimately reaching a higher ledge. To the west of this cliff you’ll find an alcove where a Nornir chest hides. Although the chest is at the bottom of the cliffs, two of the braziers you need to light require you to ascend the cliffs, so you must clear the Hel Tear if you want to finish this Nornir Chest… assuming you didn’t open it before the main quest Reunion, ideally during your mandatory visit during the main quest The Word of Fate.
This is a surprisingly simple Nornir Chest puzzle to solve - you just need to light three braziers, and all three can be directly lit with the Blades of Chaos. Their locations are below:
-
Rune 1: From the Nornir Chest turn east and look up - you’ll spot the brazier on a ledge, within easy reach of the Blades of Chaos.
-
Rune 2: Climb the cliffs to the east of the Nornir Chest and when you reach top, ascend a ledge to the west, then turn south to find a brazier on a ledge along the southern cliffs.
-
Rune 3: From the second brazier, turn east and drop down a ledge. When you land, look up to the east, northeast to find this brazier on a ledge.
Light all three braziers with the Blades of Chaos, then drop back down to the Nornir Chest and loot it to score an Idunn Apple and a Horn of Blood Mead.
If you still need help with this Nornir Chest, see the video below.
Where to Find All Legendary Chests in the Well of Urd¶
Legendary Chest - Rond of Purification¶
Climb the cliffs near the Nornir Chest, ascend a ledge then squeeze through a gap between two rocks to find a clearing. If you’ve reached or passed the main quest Reunion, you’ll find a Hel Tears blocking the cliffs to the northwest, which you need to climb. Clear the Hel Tear if necessary, then climb the cliffs - you can actually spot the Legendary Chest through a hole in the rocks as you climb, as well as a fragile section of wall you’ll need to smash through.
When you near the top of the cliffs, instead of climbing up to the top, climb left to reach a nearby ledge. Once you’re on solid ground, immediately turn left to find a ledge you can drop down - do so and you can smash through the fragile wall you climbed past earlier, beyond which you’ll find a chamber housing a Legendary Chest. Plunder it to score the Rond of Purification.
Where to Find All Odin’s Ravens in the Well of Urd¶
Climb the cliffs near the Nornir Chest, ascend a ledge then squeeze through a gap between two rocks to find a clearing. If you’ve reached or passed the main quest Reunion, you’ll find a Hel Tears blocking the cliffs to the northwest, which you need to climb. Clear the Hel Tear if necessary, then climb the cliffs until you reach the top, and when you summit turn around (turn east) to find one of Odin’s Ravens roosting on the snowy cliff across from you.
Where to Find All Hel Tears in the Well of Urd¶
You can only clear the Hel Tears if you’ve reached or passed the main quest Reunion. If so, a Hel rift will be blocking a cliff you need to climb to reach the rest of the collectibles in the area. If you need to complete the Legendary Chest and/or Odin’s Raven, you’ll need to interact with this Hel Tear and defeat the Hel-Raiders that appear (or at least survive them) in order to access the cliff beyond. Once the rift is closed you’ll complete this collectible. Check out the linked page for more details.
Where to Find All Remnants of Asgard in the Well of Urd¶
You can only clear the Remnants of Asgard if you’ve reached the main quest Beyond Ragnarok. If so, you’ll find a host of Einherjar along the eastern edge of the Well of Urd area, which can be found up a ravine northwest of the Lake of Nine. Once the Einherjar are dead, this collectible will be complete. Check out the linked page for more details.
