Do you fancy playing a runic-focused ranged build in God of War Ragnarok? Well, if the answer is a yes, the Hunter’s Armor has you covered. Obtained by completing three Favors in the optional The Crater region in Vanaheim which is only available after completing the “Creatures of Prophecy” story mission.
How to Find the Hunter’s Armor¶
To be able to start crafting the armor set, you’ll need to finish the story mission “Creatures of Prophecy”. This will unlock the optional area The Crater which hosts many sub-areas including, The Jungle, The Plains, and The Sinkholes. After completing the above story quest, you’ll find yourself back at Freyr’s camp. Once all the chatter is over with, take the west exit out of Freyr’s camp, and you’ll find a hound called Helka waiting for you. Atreus with his love for nature suggests that you follow the hound as it appears that it’s picked up a scent. This will start the Scent of Survival Favor which you’ll need to complete before you can start crafting the armor as it’ll lead you to The Crater.
Now that you have access to The Crater, you can get a few Favors. All of which offer some nice rewards, but for the sake of the Hunter’s Armor, you’ll want to complete the following Favors as each of these reward a Hunter’s Brand which is needed to craft the set:
-
In Plain Sight - This Favor can be found in The Plains sub-area of The Crater. You’ll need to defeat a Soul Eater at the end of this Favor.
-
Nocturnal Predator - This Favor is unlocked by talking to Ratatoskr at Sindri’s House after you have access to The Crater. You’ll need to defeat a Flame Phantom at the end of this Favor.
-
The Untamed Fury - The Final Favor is an odd one. You’ll fight a Huntress at five different locations in, and around The Crater. You can find the locations here.

Where to get Hunter’s Armor Materials¶
As you can see above, you’ll need quite a few materials in order to craft, and max out the Dragon Scaled Armor Set. If you’re wondering where you can get your hands on these materials, check the list below.
How to Get Tempered Remnants¶
You can get Tempered Remnants as a reward from defeating the Berserker’s in the Berserker Gravestones. They’ll normally drop around 2-5 when defeated.
How to Get Sparkling Crystals¶
Similar to a lot of the rarer resources. The best way to get these are by using the Wishing Well in The Crater region in Vanaheim. Break the amber-colored ore around The Crater, and when you have a few, head to the Wishing Well, and toss them in it to get the ingots as well as other materials, and Hacksilver.
How to Get Bonded Leather¶
Although you can get this resource from coffers, and treasure chests, your best bet is to defeat bosses that’ll drop them. You should get a lot of what you need from The Untamed Fury Favor you’ll need to complete to craft the armor in the first place. This is due to having to fight a Huntress which will drop some when defeated. You can also get some as a drop from some Berserker Bosses as well as other bosses/minibosses.
How to Get Divine Ashes¶
This material is actually a currency, which can only be obtained by participating in The Crucible Trials in Muspelheim. Unfortunately there isn’t any other way of obtaining them. The best way for you to get them is by completing the first couple of trials from each challenge sword. You can find out more about The Crucible, and how to complete the trials here.
How to Get Purified Crystalline¶
These are a relatively easy resource to get your hands on. You get them by trading crystal fragments which are scattered throughout The Crater region to the Wishing Well. This can be reached from either The Jungle or The Sinkholes. Trading these fragments can net you some nice loot including, Hacksilver, Purified Crystalline, and other various goodies. The more you trade, the more you’ll get.
How to Get Smouldering Embers¶
Once again, the only place to get these rare resources is from the Muspelheim Trials in The Crucible. Thankfully, these can be repeated to your heart’s content, so you can find the one you find the easiest, and repeat that specific trial.
Best way to Get Hacksilver¶
A lot of The Crater Favors will yield a lot of Hacksilver, and if that isn’t enough, you can trade yellow crystal fragments to the Wishing Well for even more.
