The New Game Plus mode for God of War Ragnarok is currently set to be released in the spring of 2023. We’ll tell you all there is to know about what to expect from it, and we’ll be updating this page as soon as we know more.
God of War Ragnarok New Game Plus - Release Coming in Spring 2023¶
The content updates for God of War Ragnarok seem to be following a similar pattern to those from God of War 2018. New Game Plus didn’t come with launch for that game either, so it’s not necessarily a surprise that we have to wait a bit for it to come to God of War Ragnarok too. However, we now finally have a rough date of when to expect the game mode for Ragnarok, since Santa Monica Studio have recently announced that it should be coming in Spring 2023, which detailed the following:
“We know many of you have been asking, so we’re happy to confirm that New Game Plus will be coming to #GodofWarRagnarok in Spring 2023! We’ll share more details once we get closer to the release!”
What To Expect from New Game Plus in GoWR¶
The announcement from Santa Monica Studio didn’t include any specific details about what we can expect from New Game Plus in God of War Ragnarok. However, it’s highly likely that we’ll see the same kinds of changes to the Berserker Gravestone boss fights that we saw with the Valkyrie bosses in God of War 2018, making them potentially more challenging or at least different for your second encounter with them. We may also see some additional features such as the Realm Tears which are timed, adding an extra layer of difficulty there too.
We can also expect to see any gear and special items that you acquired in the base game to carry over to New Game Plus, as with most games that introduce the feature. It would be good to see more customization for gear in general, and maybe even have the ability to create a few new armor sets or Amulet of Yggdrasil combinations, but we’ll have to wait and see for more details closer to the release date. We’ll be updating this page as soon as we know more!
In the meantime, if you need help clearing things up in the game, be sure to check our collectibles pages for Svartalfheim, Alfheim, Vanaheim, Midgard, Helheim, and Muspelheim, and be sure to complete all of the Muspelheim Trials and Challenges and Berserker Gravestone Bosses once you’re powerful enough too.
