How to Complete the Kill Fuse Muspelheim Trial¶
The Kill Fuse Muspelheim trial is one of the more simple trials in God of War Ragnarok. In many ways it’s similar to the Weapon Mastery trial, in that the main objective is just to kill a specified number of enemies within a time limit, in this case 22 enemies. The main difference between the Weapon Mastery and Kill Fuse trials is that the timer works in a different way. While the former provides a set time limit of 180 seconds, the latter begins with a 30 second time limit, but each time you kill an enemy that timer will be reset back to 30, until you’ve kill all of the enemies.
Time Limit | Number of Enemies | Enemy Types |
---|---|---|
30 seconds per enemy | 22 | Draugr, Einherjar, Grims, Wild Wretches, Dark Elves, Light Elves, Wulvers, Wisps |
The other main difference between the two trials is that you’ll be facing a tougher combination of enemies during the Kill Fuse trial. It will generally start off with relatively weak enemies such as Draugr, Wild Wretches, Grims, and some of the weaker Einherjar, but you’ll begin to see various Dark Elves, Light Elves, and multiple Wulvers enter the fight soon enough. The Wulvers are perhaps the toughest to deal with in this selection, especially on the higher difficulties where they have quite a lot of health and they can inflict some serious damage with their relentless melee combos. You should aim to reserve your Light and Heavy Runic Attacks for when the Wulvers arrive, and try to kill them as quickly as possible with AoE (Area of Effect) attacks.
The Draugr, Einherjar, Grims and Wild Wretches shouldn’t cause you too much trouble, and they’re more of an annoyance than anything else. They don’t have much health even on the higher difficulties, so sticking to melee combos and arrow hits should be enough to kill them fairly quickly. The Light Elves and Dark Elves could potentially cause you more trouble, since they’re a lot more evasive and they have special skills which can protect them from damage. The Light Elves have the ability to raise a shield, indicated by blue circle indicators, which you can only break through using your shield skill, by double tapping . Alternatively, you can try using a sufficiently powerful Runic Attack or Relic / Sword Hilt ability to break through their shield, but this can be a waste since the shield ability is so simple and easy to perform.
The Dark Elves have the ability to blind you with their magical abilities, so you’ll need to watch out for the orbs that they place on the ground, and pay attention to whether they’re using yellow ring attacks or red ring attacks. Remember that you can block or parry the former, but you can only dodge the latter, unless you’re able to interrupt it with a Runic Attack or other special ability of your own, but this can be more risky. Finally, you’ll encounter some Wisps at points throughout the fight, and the main thing to consider here is that you should prioritize killing them, and keep them away from each other. If three Wisps are within melee distance of each other, they will begin to form into a Wight, which is a much tougher enemy to deal with. You can make the Wisps vulnerable by shooting them with arrows from your companion (Atreus or Freya) first, then finish them off in melee or with ranged attacks of your own.
If you do happen to spawn a Wight, the best thing to do is to focus all of your energy on defeating them as soon as possible. They have a fair amount of health but they can also inflict a lot of damage if you leave them to it. You should consider Wights as similarly dangerous to Wulvers, so you’ll want to use Runic Attacks where possible to kill them quickly. On the other hand, if you have more of a defensive build you can just as easily focus on staying alive for as long as possible, while killing off weaker enemies which will add to the total kill count towards 22, and will reset the timer back to 30 seconds each time you kill one, ensuring that you don’t run out of time. So long as you’re confident with blocking, parrying, and / or dodging multiple enemies at once, you can easily finish this trial without much trouble even if you leave the elite enemies (Wulvers and Wights) alone.
