Svartalfheim is the first realm you will be able to explore in the game, with one of the sub-regions you will visit being Jarnsmida Pitmines. This page will guide you to obtaining all of the collectibles in Jarnsmida Pitmines, including the Odin’s Ravens, Artifacts, and much more. A lot of the collectibles won’t be available until you’ve progressed in the story and unlocked more abilities. Note that none of the collectibles in God of War Ragnarok are missable, as you will always be able to come back upon finishing the main story.

Where to Find All Ravens in Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
When you first arrive in this sub-region, you will face a battle with a bunch of Grim, plus you won’t even know you’re in Jarnsmida Pitmines. In the big initial area, go to the southern edge to spot a big wheel on the cliffside. If you look out beyond the wheel, you should see a Raven flying around. Trying to hit the Raven from this upper area can be a bit of a pain, but there’s an easier spot. On the right side of the giant wheel, there’s a chain you can use to reach a lower section. Go down here and you should have an easier time striking the Raven with your axe.
Where to Find All Artifacts in Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
Things Left Behind - Lofnheid’s Whetstone¶
There will be two Artifacts here in Jarnsmida Pitmines. The first one is located very close to the above Raven (look at the first screenshot above for the location of the chain). After dispatching all of the enemies upon first arriving in this area, go to the southern end to find a giant wheel. On the right side of the wheel is a golden chain you can use to drop down into a lower area. In that little lower area will be the Artifact on the ground. This is part of the Things Left Behind set.
Kvasir’s Poem - Tool and Bang¶
The second Artifact is found a little later, after getting the light source from Sindri. There will be a lever you can move with your Blades, but only from the larger area by where Sindri was located, right before entering the mines. Pulling this lever will cause a crane to move a huge block into the preceding area. You will be able to use your Blades to get on top of this huge block. Once you do, look for a nearby wooden waterway and freeze it with your axe. Doing this will cause the crane to move the block to another area. Go to the end of this area to find the Kvasir’s Poem on the ground, just left of a Legendary Chest.
Nornir Chest Puzzle Solution in Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
There is only a single Nornir Chest in this area, which is found just after you freeze your first wooden waterway to lower a grapple point. After using that grapple point, you will find the Nornir Chest right in front of you. This one will require you to use the Blades of Chaos to light three torches.
-
Torch 1 (R) - The first brazier will be right to the left of the Nornir Chest.
-
Torch 2 (N) - While facing the chest, turn left and drop down the ledge there. You should see the (C) Rune, but don’t worry about it yet. There is a gap here, where you will see a grapple point. Go across and light the torch.
- Torch 3 (C) - This one is a little tricky, but you should be lighting this one last. When facing the Nornir Chest, drop off the ledge to your left and you will see the torch. However, some water will be running right over it, so even if you try to light it, the water will put the fire out. Before doing this, make sure you get the second torch above first. Throw your axe at the wooden waterway above this area here to freeze the water. Doing this will lower the grapple point, meaning you can’t get the (N) Rune, but you will be able to light the (C) Rune.
Where to Find All Lore in Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
There is but a single piece of Lore in the Jarnsmida Pitmines, which is located near one of the other collectibles. When you’re doing the Nornir Chest in the region, you will need to drop down a ledge and grapple across a gap to reach the (N) Rune torch. When facing the Rune, look to the left and you will see the Rune Read on the wall.
Legendary Chest - Pommels of the Undying Spark¶
The Legendary Chest here in Jarnsmida is easy to find, if you go for the second Artifact (the Kvasir’s Poem), as they are right next to each other. It will be right after getting the light source from Sindri.
The Legendary Chest will be right at the end, to the right of the Artifact. You will receive a new Pommel for your Blades of Chaos.
Where to Find the Berserker Gravestone in the Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
The Berserker Gravestone in the Jarnsmida Pitmines can be found just as you emerge from The Applecore on your second run through the area. You can also see it as you make your way to The Applecore for the first time, but you won’t be able to access it at this point. You need the Hilt of Skofnung to activate the gravestone, thereby starting the fight with Bodvar the Fierce and Starolfr the Troublesome. You get this hilt as part of the Word of Fate main quest.
Where to Find the Remnant of Asgard in Jarnsmida Pitmines¶
You can only find the Remnant of Asgard here once you’ve completed the main story, but after that point you will need to retrace your steps as you go back through the way you came on the way to The Applecore. You can start by travelling to The Applecore Mystic Gateway and then heading out into the Pitmines area. You will be able to see the Remnant of Asgard to the north as you’re standing at the Berserker Gravestone. The remnant consists of some Einherjar enemies that you need to defeat, then loot the nearby chest to complete the collectible.
