There are hundreds of items to find and collect whilst exploring in Baldur’s Gate 3 and naturally your inventory will become cluttered and eventually you’ll become over encumbered, so you’ll need to find a way to manage it otherwise you’ll have to leave a lot of the items on the floor. This page will provide you with the necessary tips to make your inventory more organized!
How to Organize Your Inventory In BG3¶
There are a couple things you can do to manage your inventory, such as selling items, organizing items into bags/chests or even returning items to your storage chest.
Sell Items¶
You’ll get tons of items whilst exploring and the only purpose of a majority is to be sold, such as Plates, Books, Gems, Old Equipment and Certain Jewelry. You can only sell items to merchants which can be found at some villages throughout the game and the first merchant you can find near the start of the game can be found in Emerald Grove.
When you interact with a merchant you’ll notice there’s two options: Trade or Barter. Trading will allow you to simply sell items for their default value, but if you switch over to the Barter option, then you can get a little more Gold if you know what you’re doing. If you interested in learning more about the Bartering side of the game, then be sure to checkout our How to Improve Your Attitude With Traders in BG3 page.
Make Use of The Storage Chest in Baldur’s Gate¶
If your inventory is getting full and you’re at risk of becoming over encumbered on your hero and companions, then you’ll want to sell your stuff as soon as possible. However, if you’re in the middle of a quest or a cave and there’s no merchants, then you’ll want to send any unwanted items to your storage chest which is located back at your camp. To do this, you’ll want to right click the items you want to remove and select the “send to camp” option. When you’re ready to sell items, then head back to your camp and open the chest to find them. Additionally, this chest has an infinite amount of slots.
How to Select More Items at Once in Baldur’s Gate 3¶
You may start avoiding dealing with your inventory, as managing one item at a time can take a while and will become boring quickly. However, you can select multiple items at once by selecting an item, then hold and you can select as many items as you want. This will help you sell items a lot faster.
How to Sort Inventory in Baldur’s Gate 3¶
If you’re carrying a lot of items in Baldur’s Gate 3, then you may struggle to find a specific item. Thankfully, you can sort your inventory by pressing the “Sort By” button which can be found next to the search bar on your inventory screen. Here you’ll have the option to sort your stuff by Latest, Value, Weight and Type!
Inventory management is always a problem for me. Thanks for the great tips!
