There are tons of items to find whilst exploring in Baldur’s Gate 3 and whilst some allow you to craft interesting potions, some give you access to certain areas around the map. For those exploring the Underdark and want to gain access to the Arcane Tower, then you’ll need to find Sussur Blooms in order to activate the generator which gives power to the lift.
Sussur Bloom Locations in BG3¶
The easiest place to track down a Sussur Bloom is by visiting the Arcane Tower itself and that can be found in the southwest portion of the map. Upon arrival you’ll have to deal with multiple Arcane Turrets which will shoot you on sight and there’s a couple ways around it and the easiest method is to switch over to Shadowheart and take them out with Guiding Bolt. However, you’ll have to hide behind a pillar and increase your defense with Shield of Faith, then quickly use Guiding Bolt to take it out before getting back into cover to restore your health.
Once you’ve made it past the Turrets you’ll want to head over to the southern balcony and jump across the mushrooms, then you’ll stumble across a Sussur Tree when you reach the ground floor. If you are having trouble spotting it, then you’ll want to look for the glowing tree which is located at the coordinates (X: -67 Y: -286). Hold in the button to highlight any nearby items and you should see Sussur Bloom’s scattered across the floor near the tree.
What are Sussur Blooms Used For in Baldur’s Gate 3¶
As mentioned above, the Sussur Blooms are needed to power the generator which will then give you access to the Arcane Tower’s elevator. This is required if you wish to complete the optional content that takes place in the Arcane Tower. We recommend you do this, as you’ll be rewarded with the Light of Creation which is a strong halberd at this stage of the game. In order to power the elevator you’ll want to head through the door on the ground floor and you’ll find the generator sitting at the pick of it. Simply, interact with it and place the Sussur Bloom inside.
However, you’ll immediately notice that when you’re holding a Sussur Bloom that it reduces the characters magical capabilities, so you’ll want to give it to a non magical user, such as Lae’zel who is a Fighter and make her keep her distance from the mages. Alternatively, this item can be used as an advantage in battle, as you can throw it at a magic using opponent and this will prevent them from using spells.
