It’s not surprising that with a game as big as Hogwarts Legacy, hiccups are going to happen every now and then. A common bug that many players may face is quests, especially their next story quests not popping up in their quest menu. The guide below goes over how to fix this problem so that you can get back to playing your game.
Why Won’t My Story Quest Pop Up in Hogwarts Legacy?¶
For some reason, it seems like the quests queue themselves to appear but fail to actually pop up as a message in the corner of your screen. This results in you getting no Owl Mail notifications whatsoever until you fix the problem. Even worse, when you go to check your quest menu to see what you need to do, the box that shows the section that holds the next set of story quests will be there, but a new task will not. What makes a quest pop-up in Hogwarts Legacy is the letter being read, whether it pops up automatically or you have to check in manually by going into your inventory. Luckily this makes this annoying bug a rather easy fix.
How to Manually Activate Story Quest in Hogwarts Legacy¶
when this bug happens, the next story quest won’t pop up in your quest log. You also won’t be able to trigger the pop-up by waiting or reloading your game. Instead, you need to open your menu and go to your Owl Mail. Once there, look for the Professors or characters that have an exclamation mark next to their names. This indicates that there is a new mail to lead. Open the character’s letter section and then click on the new letter, and the quest will unlock. Simply move over to the quest section and choose the next story quest you wish to attempt in order to start tracking its location.
You will need to do this for every quest that glitched out during this time. Luckily with side quests, they will automatically appear on the map, so if you missed Professor Weasley’s mail about Deek, a side quest marker will still be above his head when you next enter the Room of Requirement, regardless of whether you opened her owl mail or not.
