The more you learn, the more practice you need to ensure you have a grasp on how to mix and match the spells in your growing arsenal. Using the training dummy provided by Lucan Brattleby - the overseer of Hogwarts not-so-secret dueling ring - was sufficient training last time, and there’s no reason it won’t help out again! This page will cover the side quest Spell Combination Practice 2 in Hogwarts Legacy.
How to Start Spell Combination Practice 2 in Hogwarts Legacy¶
After you complete the main quest Secrets of the Restricted Section you’ll have to work your way through another main quest, Tomes and Tribulations, which is basically nothing but talking. After those quests are done, Spell Combination Practice 2 will unlock. Just travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame in The South Wing and seek out a boy named Lucan Brattleby, who will set you up with another practice session with the training dummy.
How to Complete Spell Combination Practice 2 in Hogwarts Legacy¶
If you completed Spell Combination Practice 1 (and you must have, if you’re able to attempt this side quest), then you should already know how this works. You’ll be tasked with pulling off three combos, this time combining Accio, Levioso, Incendio, and basic attacks ( / ), and each combination must be performed without letting the training dummy touch the floor. These combos are certainly longer and more involved than the last ones were, so make sure you’ve got the three aforementioned spells hotkeyed in places you’re familiar with.
The first one is basically a freebie, giving you a bit of practice with the three spells you’ll be using for the next two combos:
The second combo is a pretty standard offensive assault (although in practrice you’ll probably lead with a couple of normal attacks). Just use Levioso to lift the training dummy, perform a three-hit basic combo, then finish with Accio (to pull the training dummy close) and finish with Incendio. Accio + Incendio are a combination you’ll be using a bit going forward, as Incendio deals a ton of damage, but has limited range, something Accio solves quite nicely.
The third combo is by far the trickiest, as you’ll have to juggle the training dummy for quite a while. If there’s any takeaways this training is trying to instill in you, it’s that combat in Hogwarts Legacy is meant to be methodical. You’ll notice you have plenty of time between attacks (basic or otherwise) to follow up before losing your combo (or in this case, dropping the training dummy). Attack with a measured pace, don’t button mash, and you should be fine. It’s also worth noting that this combination further emphasizes the importance of Accio + Incendio, with Levioso mostly serving as a time-waste that lets you cooldowns tick away. Not that Levioso isn’t useful, especially if you sandwich it between a flurry of basic attacks.
Complete the three combos above to complete the quest.
