Once you reach Wand Mastery, you are in the home stretch of Hogwarts Legacy’s story. This is a quest that appears innocent at first but quickly throws you into one of the final boss battles of the game. With that being said, this quest is on the shorter side as it’s just a few simple cutscenes and then a boss fight with Victor Rookwood himself. The guide below goes over how to defeat Victor Rookwood and his horde of dark wizard accomplices.
How to Start The Wand Mastery Quest in Hogwarts Legacy¶
This quest can be started right after you get finish San Bakar’s Trial. Wand Mastery is an innocent-looking task that quickly turns into a boss battle once you leave Ollivander’s Wand Shop. Be sure to stock up on potions, plants, and use your talent points before proceeding onwards with this story quest.
How to Defeat Victor Rookwood in Hogwarts Legacy¶
While you might be expecting this fight to be hard, it’s very simple to take Victor Rookwood down, provided you know how to break his shield. Upon being teleported to the boss arena, many dark wizards will spawn in. You will want to defeat them and fill up your meter for Ancient Magic, be sure not to use it just yet, as it can slow down the fight later on. These are standard fights. Just handle them like you would any other until Victor Rookwood decides to enter the ring.
Once Rookwood has entered, you will notice that he is guarding himself with a shield. This can’t be broken with most standard spells. Instead, you will need to use Ancient Magic to break it and then wail on him with your spells. You can also use Stupefy to break it down and then use your Ancient Magic to take a larger chunk out of his health.
Victor Rookwood will resume his shield after taking a bit of damage, and dark wizards will keep spawning in the arena. Defeat them to build up your Ancient Magic meter, and keep breaking Rookwood’s shield. To be honest, as long as you have patience, bring a few potions, and dodge magic attacks, this boss fight isn’t all that difficult once you get used to the arena. Outside of the quick-time event where you beat back his Avada Kedavra spell.
Rookwood doesn’t have any groundbreaking attacks, just focus on him and only deal with the dark wizards when you want more Ancient Magic, as they will just continually respawn throughout the fight. If you have unlocked dark curses yourself, then you can use them to finish off Victor Rookwood.
