There are a ton of things you can do while exploring Hogwarts Legacy, and if you like beasts, then the Vivarium will be one of your favorites. Believe it or not, there’s more to these magical terrariums than just keeping beasts safe and happy. They can be a good source of money, potion ingredients, and even be decorated like your Room of Requirements can. The guide below goes over how to automate your Vivarium so you can spend more time exploring and less time trying to remember if you fed all of your beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.
Where to Buy Vivarium Items¶
You can purchase spellcraft recipes from Tomes and Scroll in Hogsmeade. The price for these items usually sits a bit above or below 1000 G and can help make managing all of your Vivariums much easier. Some items will be unlocked with your first Vivarium, while one item won’t unlock until you do the side quest related to breeding.
Vivarium Items and What They Do¶
There are four different spellcraft recipes that you can pick up from Tomes and Scrolls. The breeding pen will unlock after you complete the Foal of The Dead side quest that is given by Deek. The rest of the products can be picked up at any time, and the cost of buying all four recipes is 3,700 G, so be sure to pick them all up when you go shopping. Below is a chart giving you information about each Vivarium spellcraft recipe in Hogwarts Legacy.
Vivarium Spellcraft Recipe | Use | Cost |
---|---|---|
Beast Feeder | Automatically provides feed to your beast without needing to be refilled. | 1200 G |
Beast Toybox | Gives you access to a range of toys for your beast to play with. You can only take one toy out of the box at a time. | 500 G |
Breeding Pen | Allows you to breed a pair of beasts and produce a baby every 30 minutes. | 1000 G |
Dung Composter | Collects beast dung and turns it into fertilizer for your plants. | 1000 G |
In addition to these, there are several items already included in your Vivarium that you can use to decorate. This includes things like paths to make the space be decorated to have a unique look. These standard decorations won’t help out or provide special resources like the spellcraft recipes listed above. They are only a cosmetic edition.
