A little practice never hurt anybody… except for your enemies, and that’s a good thing, right? How to Start Spell Combination Practice 1 in Hogwarts Legacy¶
To unlock this quest, you’ll first need to complete the main quest Defence Against the Dark Arts, after which Sebastian will invite you to the underground dueling club in Hogwarts. Travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame in The South Wing and seek out a boy named Lucan Brattleby, who organizes these clandestine duels. He also organizing practice sessions with the training dummy, which you can opt to do at your leisure.
How to Complete Spell Combination Practice 1 in Hogwarts Legacy¶
As the name of the quest implies (read: outright states), this is a tutorial in performing spell combinations. Once you’ve got the training dummy at your mercy, some combinations will appear at the top of the screen, which you’ll have to perform. The only real danger here is mashing normal wand attacks ( / ), which may cause you to botch the last, most elaborate combo. Still, the timing is pretty generous, so as long as you can control the urge to mash, you should be fine.
The first combination you’ll need to enter is Accio ( + / + ) followed by four normal attacks ( / ). Even mashing can’t fail this combination, and this is basically teaching you how to counter purple shields and follow up with damaging wand blasts.
The second combination you’ll need to perform is Levioso ( + / + ) followed by four normal attacks ( / ). Same as above, save this combo counters and punishes yellow shields.
Finally, you’ll need to put what you did earlier together and perform a long combo where you’ll need to chain Levioso followed by four normal attacks, then Accio and four normal attacks, all without allowing the training dummy to hit the ground. The training dummy has a generous amount of air time, so the only real risk here is mashing normal wand attacks when you need to switch to Accio. If you botch things, you’ll just have to wait a moment for Levioso and Accio to recharge - repeat until you succeed, after which this side quest will be completed.
