Metaphor: ReFantazio

A Bullish Embargo

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Some of the side quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio will unlock new areas to visit on the world map. Once you arrive in Grand Trad and have access to spending your free time doing activities, you will unlock a few side quests in the city. One of these will be A Bullish Embargo, but this one has an extra requirement before you’re able to start it. This page will detail how to start the side quest, as well as how to complete it.

A Bullish Embargo Location

Once you unlock the free time stuff in Grand Trad, you can head over to the Igniter Shop and find the one woman you met earlier standing in front of it. She will mention that she has a job for you, thanks to your connection to Grius, but when you try to start the quest, she questions your experience. You will need your Wisdom Royal Virtue at level 2 in order to officially start this side quest. If you look just east of her location, there is a bench you can use to gain some Wisdom. Pair that with the Help the Hushed Honeybee side quest to easily get your Wisdom to level 2.

Once you have done this, return to the lady and choose the bottom option to start the quest. She introduces herself as Brigitta and mentions she runs the Igniter Shop here. However, some trade routes have been experiencing difficulties, so Brigitta wants you to solve the problem at the source. Since she wants to keep things on the downlow, that’s why she’s asking you for help. This problem comes in the form of a monster, who seems to be taking up residence in Belega Corridor. Your mission is to go there and defeat the monster.

Belega Corridor Guide

Belega Corridor can be quite the dangerous dungeon for you, especially if you go there right away as soon as you can. Some of the more abundant enemies inside are level 16, while the boss you need to defeat at the end is level 22. It is definitely possible to defeat the boss on lower difficulties at like levels 11-12, but it might still take some luck on your side. There are two things you can do to make things easier, which are to simply go through Belega Corridor to get some levels, or go through the Regalith Grand Cathedral dungeon.

Both are great places to do, since you can get some nice equipment from them that allow things to be easier on that side, too. The Guptauros at the end of the dungeon is quite strong and can easily down your characters, especially at lower levels. Having a Healer class leveled up enough to get Medi will help, but make sure you don’t use the Healer as a class during the battle (or dungeon). The Guptauros is weak to Pierce attacks, so having a Knight use its Synthesis skill, Jump Thrust, with the Warrior class. It is also weak to ice, so hopefully you have someone who can inherit Blizz from the Mage class.

(1 of 2) The Guptauros can deal a lot of damage to your party, especially at lower levels.

Once you’ve defeated the Guptauros, you can return to Brigitte in Grand Trad. Tell her you’ve defeated the creature and the following scene will take up a time slot, as well as bring the side quest to an end.

A Bullish Embargo Rewards

One of the items you will receive for completing this quest is a Pious Igniter, which grants the Mage Devotion skill (party-wide healing spell). You will also get a nice healthy boost to your Courage Royal Virtue (four points), as well as 7,500 Reeves. Those are all the visible rewards from this quest, as you unlock the Merchant Archetype here and Brigitte gives you the Proof of Membership item, allowing you to shop at the Igniter’s Shop in Grand Trad.
