There are plenty of trophies and achievements in Metaphor: ReFantazio, which require you to do specific tasks. The Bookworm trophy/achievement is one of those, as it asks you to finish reading all of the books in the game. For the most part, you will unlock all but one of the books by simply playing the main story, as you get more characters. However, there is one missable book, so this trophy/achievement can be missed.
All Book Locations in Metaphor¶
You won’t have to go too far to get most of the books in the game, as they simply get added to your collection as you get more party members. It should be noted that you can only read the books on the gauntlet runner, but only while you’re traveling to another place. So, unless there are rank up events with any Followers, you should worry about reading the books at those times, especially if you want the trophy/achievement. The reason for this is because each of the books will require you to read them a total of three times to fully complete them.
The books are located on the bookshelf on the gauntlet runner, right next to the kitchen where you cook your food. Reading a book will take up one slot of your time, though, which is why it’s important to concentrate on other important things first. There is more than enough time in the game to read all of the books and do everything else, though. Some of the books will have you answering a question, which needs to be correct, in order to get the full bonus towards the Royal Virtue.
Book | Royal Virtue | Unlock |

The Magical Future Book Location¶
While the majority of the books are automatically obtained, there is one book that is missable, as you have to talk to a specific NPC during a certain arc of the story. The Magical Future is a book you won’t be able to get until you get to the Brilehaven portion of the main story. Once you’re there and have gotten to July 23rd, which is when your free time starts, go to Angler’s Inn Square and to the fountain in the southwest.
There should be an NPC here named Julian, who you can talk to for some dialog. There is a question he asks first, but immediately after that, he will question your literacy and give you the book. It appears that once you finish up the Brilehaven portion of the story, Julian will no longer be in the city, so you won’t be able to get the book anymore.
